I read on hear all the time about how much of a mess it can be to change to drain the oil. Its actually really simple. after you remove the lower toe bracket

(5 torx screws) just cut down an old yamalube bottle to catch the oil. trick here is loosen the drain plug a bit first then place bottle up to it, then remove drain bolt, the big mouth of the bottle lets the bolt fall through to pan, ( grab it quick before oil covers it if ya want).

another way to drain oil as well ,which is drill out all of the rivets on the lower side panel and replace the rivets with a screws ( $2), you now have a removable lower side panel, and can just use a drain pan I have the screws on this viper, which you can kinda see in some of the photos, but wanted to show with panel on

Screws on the side panel, great idea! ;)!;)!

I cut a pop bottle from top to bottom in the same way on the first oil change, didn't spill a drop of oil. It worked very well.

Hey @Throttle Jockey , I don't see any pink banners in the backgrounds of your pictures? Did you send me the only one you had?! ;)!

Great little trick on catching the oil with an old bottle!

Great idea looks like your draining out new oil.

did you loose a few screws while riding? Did you put Loctite to help out? I am very interested in those screws. It would allow an easier access for maintenance.

Thanks

Didn't loose any screws, this season. and never used locktite, they hold very well, last season lost one, but everything held up fine. Just use a screwdriver for install, and not any impacts, over tightening and spinning them can egg out the existing holes, and screw will be loose. ( not a huge deal since u can just go up a size in screw if need be)
