EC OHLINS

ec shock

My 07 EC shock adjustment on the end has no sound, but you can feel the detents as you turn the plastic adjuster wheel. I am 205lbs, and in my opinon it is still way to soft! I had no trouble with the wire, it appears very sturdy. If you do any riding off the smooth groomed trail at all, you will need some sort of revalve or spring or a comination of both. Just bottoms out way to often! The 07 mono skid is by far better than the no-action that preceded it. It just can't take the big ones at all! I am going to go with the 6.1 spring and a revalve. Hope that works without making it to stiff? Four strokes still are the best sleds I have ever owned!! :yam:

I talked to AMF motorsports, certified Ohlins shock company and they told me they did a lot of revalves on 06's. The 07's had better compression stack but dampening was the same. Stated he could not do much to the 07's unless you were doing a spring change.
After calibrating my suspension, bottomed like 6 times in 1500 miles. I weigh 180 pounds and do high speed trail running.

The spec in the 07 Apex GT is exactly the same as the 06 Apex GT. Springs, pistons, shim stacks and EC valves are exactly the same. The only difference is the updated piston shaft seal and the updated solenoid wire found in the 07, but this does not affect the spring force or the damping force.

I agree about the spring change. The standard 48 N/mm spring is just way too soft for big roller type bumps. With this soft spring, no damping in the world will stop you from bottoming out...

Hm..well i just got my 07 Apex GT and i have only ridden lakes so i have not bottemed it out yet. But next season i will really be able to test it out. I'm 160 pounds ish. So if i bottom it out easy next year should i go to a big boy spring, is that what you would recomend?? I'm not into jumping at all, but i still would like be able to hit some ruff stuff if i have too. Jord

at 160 lbs you should be fine. There is preload adjustment on the threaded shaft of the shock. Unless you are really an agressive rider I wouldn't think you could bottom the stock spring. I think that Yamaha only has 150 pound test riders, so you will fit right in! Yamaha did a much better job with this skid, other than getting the spring wrong for anyone over 200 pounds. Good luck! Honk

Yah thats what i'm thinking. I'm going to the cabin tomorrow where my sled is at and i am going to set the spring to my weight. And if i get it in some ruff stuff i can just set the shock dampaning to max and i think i should be good. Love the Apex so far, best thing i have ever bought.
