i know its been posted before but i am considering the ecp kit for my rx1...i have a few questions for you guys.....i already spoke to ecp , but i want opinions from you guys....do i have to put the clutch kit in? what gains would i get if i left the clutch alone? what are your thoughts

might as well ask the boss...freddie, do i NEED to install the clutch kit? what gains would i get just leaving the stock clutch? i spoke to you this morning on the phone. i just wanted some feedback from others who have your kit. i know its an awsome kit. i am on a budget right now , thats why i wondered if i can do the kit without the clutch.....

Hi I didnt want to start a pissing match so I,m sending this to you. Last year I had the filter and clutch kits on both of my and wifes RX1s.. Tooh the clutch kits off after 200 miles. Didnt seem to help much at all. The filter kits were great. I put the filters on both sleds and the clutch on one and they ran almost neck and neck. Put clutch kit on both and still the same. I lost 2 mpg with the clutch kits over stock clutching. Took them off and sold them and liked the all around performance a lot better and got my mpg back. Hope this helps.. byoffcr.

I know some guys swear by them but this was my findings.

ECP-filterkit gives you more power and a better throttle response no doubt about that. Do you need a clutch kit? Yes - if you want to convert the added power into faster accelleration you do want the clutch kit. No - if you are only riding trails all day long and do not need to get to speed quick you will still have the advantage of the added torque even when running the stock clutch combo. But I will recommend a clutch kit, talk to Matt from http://www.thespeedshop1.com he will get you what you need. My '03 RX-1 did show the same fuel consumption figures both stock, and with filter and clutch kit in it.

My experiences..many of them!, is that the clutch kit works. However, I have many customers that do not use them. Like in Byofficer's case...he put them along with my air kits on 2 different sleds and didn't like them. There are lots and lots of variables to consider regarding clutching however. Were center to center measurement set up exactly the same on both sleds? Did he try the same belt on both sleds? Did he take and actually measure the secondary spring pressure? Was 1 sled a shorty and the other a long track? Did they both have the same track? Same amount of studs? Same weight rider? Was offset set up properly? Parallelism? Perpendicuarity?

Should I continue? An awful lot to think about I'm afraid!

Sleds were identical in every way. Clutches were set up for rider weight. Clutches were switced from one sled to the other with the same results. I felt the gains came from the filter kits. They were great.

goldberg u need a heavy hitter clutch and the filters and get back to us after your first ride... u will think you are on a different sled.

does the ecp or cpr filter kit get you any speed on the 05 rx1?

You will reach top speed quicker. Thereby crushing your buddies to the other side of the lake.
