The failure rate on the wires getting damaged on the GT's has not been nearly that high by us. We saw only one GT last season with the wire damage (me and my closest 4-5 personal riding buds all had GT's with 2K plus miles last season and none had wiring issues)- that was also the sled that needed the ECU after replacing the wiring and having the same problem of not recognizing the shock. Have you thought about maybe trying to take the sled into a different dealer over there and have them take a look at the problem?

leaddog said:Thanks Kevin. I really, really do appreciate all the help you have given me over the past year. You are the best. I believe the problem started when the shock wire broke and grounded to the chassis. It blew the ESC fuse but also damaged something else in the circuit. My dealer said that since they replaced the shock once (blown seal) and that I had worked on the sled myself, that they were no longer responsible for the warranty. I have already spent over $500 out of my pocket to repair this rear suspension and can not bring myself to spend another $523 to try a new ECU which may not even be the problem. At this point it looks like I'll have to abandon the Electronic Shock option and either ride it like it is or try something else. Since nearly every GT sold last year had a wire damage issue but did not take out the ECU I don''t believe that grounding the ESC wire (which is fused) should have damaged it, but if it did, it should covered under the warranty. These problems have left me just a little bitter with both my dealer and Yamaha. With all of the other problems that I have experienced with this machine, I have decided not to purchase a new sled for my wife this year and after 37 years of snowmobile riding, I am considering getting out of the sport.
Still waiting for the handlebars too!

Its not worth the frustration. Just sell it and get another model.

I looked at the GT last year and after checking out all the fancy shock crap that came along with it I opted for a ER. I'm glad I did because my ER has been awesome and I just ride it and leave the friggen shocks alone. I learned back in 02 when I had my Cross Country ZR that all those fancy shocks are a pain in the butt. I had the clicker shocks on it and it also had the shock with the remote dial on the handlbars that you could adjust your ski pressure on the fly. While it wirked great at first I had problems with ice buildup on the wires and it would leak gas out of the adjuster and then become useless. Had I wanted it to work properly I would have had to have it rebuilt every 500 miles!! Cat has since gotten rid of it and for good reason, just another high maintenance POS in my book. Sometimes you just have to use the KISS method! Keep It Simple Stupid!

This is what most likley caused his problem.

I mentioned your problem to Bruce at Pioneer Performance the other day.. He said the problems your having must of started before you pulled the shock out. I reason I asked him is because I was concerned about pulling mine for the revalve if I am going to have problems getting it to work again.
