Engine builders, oil system priming

You can have it for that minus the everything but the engine and oil pump! LOL

I'll work on it tonight and verify coolant flow to confirm that shaft is spinning the oil pump.

Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it!

I told my wife you needed to get your priorities straight...taking your wife out of super now trickotreating, your sled is getting the short end of the stick here........ :o|

My wife said she is going to start a snowmobilers wife support group! ;)!

VDW would be in for that LOL!

I would have had those little candy scammers in the garage holding oil lines and trouble lights until they found the problem!! NO OIL...NO CANDY!!!!!!! :)

Well I am a freak and snuck home for lunch or lack there of and got a chance to test a few things. I filled up the oul system to F and coolant system.

#1 it IS pumping coolant. I let it run for about 3-4 minutes after I discoverec this and the hoses were all hot and it was starting to go into the heat exchangers.

#2 it is NOT pumping oil yet, there is oil all around but its not getting back to the tank, no rev would pump out of the black hose or the bleed screw on the head.

My plan is to drain oil and start over. I have a short vid of it running but not sure if it will let me post it.

Well no go guys, I drained the oil and it looked great no shavings or anything scary like that. Put in 2 qts and the tank was full, gave it a shot of air and it went down, added another qt and the tank was over full, started it up no circulation, shut down added some air level went down to full, started up no circulation.

I pulled the oil cooler line off teh T-stat and checked for pumping and it wouldn't pump anything into the cooler, I assume because the t-stat was still closed. I let it idle for 1 minute and all the hoses were hot and the tank was getting warm i didn't check if I had flow now. I assume if the hoses are warm its flowing.

I checked the return line and detached it from the block and at the tank and blew threw it and no restrictions, when I hook it up to the block I cannot blow back threw the hose, must be a check valve?

I'm at my wits end!

I just popped off the bleed screw for the coolant system and she is pumping the coolant just perfect!

Is there ANY chance that oil pump could not pump if the coolant is? I don't think so its on the same shaft. At least that rules out the chain being off.

How could it possibly be this air locked?

That previous picture of the hoses is correct right?

There is now only 3 qts in the engine and the tank says full but I left the oil filter from the first time so its full.

Is there any way to drain all oil and blow air through the engine to make sure there aren't any clogged passages? If I can check that and I still got nothing then I'm going to have to tear this some beetch out and look at that oil pump. MOTHER^&%$&@

There isn't much to add that others haven't already covered. The hose routing in the pic is confirmed by me as correct.

One thing that could be the problem (and you won't know until you R&R the engine) is whether all 3 o-rings are installed on the pump. You could be missing one and it would only give you a small oil leak, but either of the other two and I don't think it would be possible to build oil pressure. Hope I'm wrong, because that would really suck!

The one I'm thinking of would go at the 10:00 position just above and to the left of the air ratchet.
