My '06 RTX seems to be acting up on occasion. It usually happens the first complete stop I come to after taking off. There is no warning and it just stops. I t happened on 3 occasions this weekend. Once after unloading & coming to the first turn. Another time after leaving a local watering hole (sled sat for about an hour) and going full throttle across the lake. It stalled as I let completely off when coming to shore. The third time was right after leaving the evening dinner stop & pulling up to a gas pump 1/4 mile later. It starts right back up, but may labor a tad. Again, no warning & doesn't seem to run any different while on the trail. Anyone else experience this or have any input on what's going on? Thanks

Pretty common issue. My issue was the throttle position sensor, but many others had luck with changing the CO settings.

Thanks for the response. I also have in common I just turned 10000 miles. I would say it started this behavior about 400 miles back. I'm not sure I am ready to try that fix myself as it seems a little more complicated than what my mechanically challenged self can handle. I will run the suggestion by my buddy that works for a local dealer to get his input. Then go from there. Thanks again!

I talked to a couple guys at the dealer and they didn't seem to hot on the CO adjusting idea. I guess I will take a stab at this idea myself after the season (seems like this weekend might be the last hurrah) when I get more time. Gotta love it when I get more info on TY then a dealer.

Just an update, FYI, and another question. When at the shop for preseason inspection and oil change, I told them about the issue again. They looked at it and found that there were vacuum hoses disconnected and the airbox wasn't completely attached around the throttle bodies. Tried it again and same thing. I took it back again and urged them to consider the co settings and gave them the link to the above mentioned thread. This time they discovered that the valves were "tight ". So, they adjusted them. They also decided the idle wasn't where it should be. So, they did adjust the co (by 10 i think. ) I haven't trail rode it yet, as no close trails open. But I did take it off the trailer and gave a hard throttle and abrupt let off around the yard. It didn't stall or even seem to skip a beat, like it was. Fingers crossed, it doesn't act up on the trail either. Will provide another update when the snow finally comes and I get the opportunity.
My question is, for those who have adjusted the co settings, have you noticed a difference in fuel mileage? The dealer mentioned that if I noticed a difference, I should let them know. I then asked why and the response basically was because the adjustment richened it it up. So, I am assuming in theory feeding it more fuel, will mean using fuel faster. I hope there isn't a difference because I am happy with the mileage I was getting. Anyone with any input?

Mine does the same but worked better (still not completely cured) after adjusting the CO to -10 which is leaner and taking fuel away. When I put mine on the positive side (richer), it would barely even idle at all. Some guys say they have solved the problem by cleaning the IAC valve, others claim it was their ECU, some have said temp sensors and even stators. Tons of us on here have had this issue but strangely enough, there does not seem to be 1 common fix....

Almost forgot to update again. Happily , have put a few more (unfortunately way short of the norm) hundred miles on and the engine cutting out problem has not recurred. It does seem to idle slightly higher, but I am not messing with anything since it's been running good. Now have over 10,800 miles on it. Still enjoying!

there is a idle adjusting screw ( black knob) if you look on the top of the motor from the left side. you can reach it with a long slot head screw driver.

Now that you say that, I seem to remember that black knob. Which direction clockwise or counterclockwise to decrease rpm? Thanks

Righty-tightly = clockwise= more rpms lefty-loosy =counterclockwise= less rpms
