Still running my sled 100% stock. Jackers repaired the wiring harness so my cold temp warm up light is not coming on while riding. But yesterday i let the sled sit and idle for about a minute, and when I went to take off, it would not run past 6000RPM. After 100 yards or so, it comes to life.

I have changed plugs, cleaned carbs and still no improvement. This problem is not consistant, only happes once or twice a day of full riding.

Anyone know where to look?

No over heat lights, or any indication of an overheat.

This issue has come and gone for the last couple of weeks. Dealer can't make it repeat in the shop, so they think their is not a problem. I want this taken care off this year, as of next year, I will have no warranty.

1- Replace the Spark Plugs and grease the plug boots with di-electric grease.

2- Check throttle cable tension to ensure the TORS isn't the culprit.

3- Follow every inch, every wire in the harness and look for bare wires, caused by poor routing of the wires and harness by Yamaha.

4- Have the dealer check for codes.

5- Check the compression on all 4 cylinders. Even better, do a leak down test.

6- All of the above are good and you're sure the carbs are not screwed up, replace the CDI box.

Discussed with some, anyone think how does the heated carbs effect everything in warmer (high 30s) weather? As one said, could be some sort of effect of the carbs being hot. I know some on the forums have put shut off valves on it.

Super - 1-4 have been done by the dealer, but performance is very good when this thing is not acting up (129MPH on the dream meter on Sat), so I am assuming compression is AOK. #6 has been one thing I have thought all along.

ive seen wires pinched on brand new machines from dealers, and not just sleds, when i got a new kodiak 450 the wires were pinched in a tiewrap under the seat and had burned through on the exhaust

I just picked the sled up Saturday Morning from the dealer. They had checked the harness and repaired it in one spot.
