I posted earlier about my 03 RX-1 having a exhaust leak. Well today i tore it apart and found that cylinders#1-2 flex pipes had cracked inside the bellows. Which i had suspected. I called a yamaha dealer and they said that the ones for the 03's were $ 127.67 each but they had been updated for 04-05 and are a little cheaper at $116.00 each. I was wondering if anybody had installed ones off a 04-05 and if they would fit. The sleds did not change much appearance wise. Plus if they are updated they may not cause anymore problems. The dealer was unsure if they would fit. Because i had called two dealers and both said that had never heard of a four stroke cracking the flex pipes before. Thanks in advance for the help. Does anybody know if they make a header pipe for the RX-1 then i could do away with the flex pipes. Problem fixed installed four used flex pipe off sled with 600km. Thanks

I suspect they put in flex pipes for a reason. A solid header may introduce other problems. But this comment will get this topic back at the top of the heap and maybe someone with some real answers will pick up on this topic.

Exhaust flex pipes

101 Had the same problem on an o3, all 4 broken. Updated parts will interchange they just don't have the exhaust temp fitting in them.

flex pipes

Had the same problem on my 03. The #1 pipe was cracked, probably since new, and it finally got worse this year. Replaced it with an 04-05 and no more problems.
