What exhaust (header and muffler combination) does everyone enjoy running? I just spoke to the great folks over at Evolution Powersports and they have discontinued the SR Viper header because the jig was dropped. I was planning on running their full set-up, but now I’m looking at using the full MBRP system (with trail canister so it’s not THAT loud). Still, I wanted to get a consensus on what everyone else might have seen as I understand the MBRP cans last about two years then they need to be repacked.
Just FYI, I plan on running the Stage 4 tune from Evo with the Excell XV7 intake as I understand that drops intake temps from ~70°F to about mid-30°F. I also ride in Maine, so a “trail” canister is necessary.
Thanks and ride on!

Why are you set on mbrp?
Their header is a cheap knock off of the straight line performance header with zero gains in power, their can's crack at the welds, have you looked at their products up close, looks like Ray Charles welded the #*$&@ together.
Sorry for ripping on their stuff but the only thing they have going is their embossed lettering on the products.

No worries! This is the whole reason I'm asking. By now, people have many years on their Vipers and I'm looking to make mine last (not only because a new snowmobile is really not an option, but also because I love mine and couldn't think about parting with it until 15,000+ miles). Looking to chip away at the little gremlins and replace them with things that will last.

I tried a set of Ulmer headers and didn't see enough gain to bite. I am running an Ulmer can and helix. Can't say enough good about them. I do know that MBRP seems to burn out packing pretty quick. My Ulmer can is quieter than the MBRP trail can and gives a little more HP.

Ulmer/spi can. They are like 219 on ulmers website! Wicked good price, sounds awesome, not too loud, get the intake. You don't even need a tune. Spend the money on some clutching components and rip it.

Anyone know what the SPI/Ulmer has for packing? Mine has ~1200 miles on it and test at the same db as when I installed it. I like the tone it has and it passes sound checks but some have said adding the header bumped up the sound level. The Skinz Ultra Q on my Phazer went ~4000 miles before it started getting noticeably louder, and removed it at 4500 miles when something broke inside and started rattling.

Your the second one I heard say when they installed the header it got louder. I got 2000 miles on mine, and it's still perfect
If $ is no object it would be the Ulmer Straightline header and Evo Magnum can.

Steve, shouldn't you be on a river!
The Ulmer/Straightline header definitely did increase noise on mine with either the Evo or Ulmer trail can I am running now. But I also gained MPH and midrange vs the Evo header which basicly did nothing except cause issues. Glad they quit making it. It was quiet with either can though.Your the second one I heard say when they installed the header it got louder. I got 2000 miles on mine, and it's still perfect
Viper and truck are only things that started this morning! Trying to get motivated to unload everything from the weekend. Getting the Ether out now.Its cold!Steve, shouldn't you be on a river!![]()

Straight line / Ulmer for me. Buddy and I both have 2016 Vipers, His has the Ulmer/Straightline header and muffler and mine has the stock header with the Ulmer/Straightline muffler and I will say his is slightly louder then mine. I was running a G.G.B. Trail muffler for a little but it would drone bad on long rides. I would say the after riding about 400 miles with the Ulmer/Straightline muffler it is just about prefect, just slightly louder the stock but nice on the long rides.

Any reason why on Ulmer's website the can is $219.99 (plus $17.00 for shipping) and the header is $399.99 (plus $30.00 for shipping), but buying them together costs $849.99 (plus $50.00 shipping). That's a $233.01 difference than purchasing them separate, including shipping!? And that doesn't even include a replicable copper gasket (which is a miserly $19.99 from Schmidt Bros. Motorsports)!
