After doing some talking with MPI I think I might go with one of there supercharger kits for my new phazer when they become available.

And since they aren't quite like the turbo set-up and I'd still be using the stock exhaust do you think that I could use an aftermarket dirt-bike muffler on this phazer motor.

Something like a muffler for a YZF 450? I'd really like to give the Phazer a real mean growl....

Should work out well. Make sure it flows at least the same as the stock muffler to prevent too high back pressure, bad thing on blown engines.

How would I find out if the muffler would flow as good or better than the stocker?

Also, the straight pipe idea crossed my mind as well, but I'm sure that would be way to loud

You may go with MCXpress kit when it hits the market, it's a rear mount design with it's own muffler.

I'm going to use the R-1 twin mufflers, and try that. There made out of titanium. I don't know how much the stock muffler weights. But the 2 R-1 mufflers are LIGHT. What would be better, 2 pipes into 1, into 2 to the mufflers, or each pipe, to each muffler. :dunno:

Muffler

Don't put a YZF 450 Muffler on the Phazer. Its tuned for a single 450, not a twin 500. That means there is a different size of exhaust pulse, you will lose all bottom end, or it may stall at a certain RPM.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. So these 4 strokes are pretty finicky on exhaust mods?

I had a guy build a can for my Cat 900 and it worked and sounded awesome. I was wondering about having him build one for this phazer. But if the muffler affects the motor that much I don't know what to do.
