FEEL LET DOWN IN 08

Makes my decision easier for this year. I will keep my 06. Fine by me. The fact that they want $12,500 for an Ohlin Attak is nuts. The Ohlin is the thing I hate most on my GT. I wouldn't pay a dime to have em again. Nytro looks good but they sure skipped any improvements for the Apex. Great sled but they could have done something other than graphics.
The price on all of these sleds has me a bit suprised. $10,000 for a 3 cyl 130 hp sled?? Ouch. And to think that the hand warmers are going to be marginal and it will eat wheels like they are going out of style.

The 1000 dollar price increase made my decision very easy. I was considering trading this year again as I have for the past three years. Each trade has been about 2000-2200 difference. The elimination of the ER model, plus the unjustified 1000 dollar increase, makes for a 2000 increase over previous trades or more than 4000. No thanks Yamaha!Yamaha is trying to make up for a bad year all at once and protecting their dealers by forcing huge pricing differences to the 07 models. They are also setting the stage for an even bigger price increase in 09 when hopefully they have something new and in high demand. I predict they will be asking 14000+ for their top sleds in 2009. Clever trick. I must ask what is the incentive to buy early? Even if you wanted an 08 I would wait until next year to buy where their is a good possibility they would have to heavily discount to move the 08's

I know one thing.. I would have a tough time buying another $10K sled.... Those $370 a month payments SUCK....

Ill just wait for one of those suckers who live in IOWA who never get any snow to sell there sleds dirt cheap and have less than 1000 miles on them... LMAO.. (i see this every year)

I think some people missed the fact that the Apex LTX which is the 08 Attak only went up $300 at $10,799 it is a good value. The 40th models are limited editions and the ohlins alone add about $1,000. According to my dealer there are plenty of Apex ERs in stock.

I hate to say it Welterracer, but I'm one of those suckers who live in Iowa, but I wouldn't sell my sled cheap. If anything, I'd market it in a good snow area as a low mile sled! LOL! With as few miles as we can ride, I can keep my sled forever!

Did you get shafted with a $370 payment?, or just a short note? I have mine at $180, so it's not unbareable, but when my Nytro comes in........

I really havent seen too many Apex's (or any other model for that matter) on the trails around here. I know of one guy who bought an RTX the same time I got mine, but I've only seen one ER on the trails here this season! Whata wrong with people. Every tavern parking lot looks like a Doo showroom! I can't believe how many "suckers" are out there,Welt!

That simply is not true! When Yamaha (or any manufacturer) buys large amounts of any component to put on the sled, they get huge price reductions over what an individual consumer has to pay. Their cost increase per sled with the Ohlin shocks vs the 07 Yammie clickers upfront is probably in the range of a couple hundred dollars or less. Regardless, even if it cost Yammie a $1000 per sled more to add the Ohlins upfront, would it be worth it for the average sledder to pay that much more than the 07? It's not like the 07 Yammie upfront shocks were a piece of garbage. Just admit it, Yammie dropped the ball. I was leaning heavily towards a new 08 Apex/Attak but now it's either an 07 Yammie or a Doo or Cat. It didn't cost Yammie anything to add the rider forward chassis to the Vector line, they already had that chassis in the Apex line. The new 130 injected motor is great but to only put it in a non-trail Nytro sled with no windshield and a tiny 7 gallon gas tank is absurd. The door was wide open for Yammie to grab a lion's share of the market and they stumbled badly IMO.

Why do we need a limited edition model in a sled, and what exactly are the production numbers for a limited edition? It is not like they are going to hold their value like an Anniversary Corvette might.

I am disappointed that Yamaha is not offering a non-anniversary Apex LTX GT model.

I hear what you are saying postman!

I'm kinda dissapointed in the 08 Apex's. Loosing the ER sucks. I would love to see them go to a closed loop EFI system, with the addition of an O2 sensor i think you would see 5+ more ponies and much better fuel economy. They could easily go to alittle more aggresive cam profile to gain some more power. Lots of little things i would of liked to see, but until something happens i'll just keep smiling riding my 06 ER.

Sleds

It all depends on what you want to have. Me I usually buy a left over, bought my 05 Warrior in March of 06 brand new for $5700. Thought that was quite a deal. Is it the latest technology? No. Will it beat an Apex? No, as I have raced my nephews Apex GT many many times and he goes by me at about 80MPH. (I do get him until then). But it is one hell of a sled and it keeps me quite content for riding. Will I pay $10,000 for a sled not a chance in hell unless I can drive it 8 months a year. JMO..... To each his own
