Hey all,

With the lousy riding conditions/snowfall here in MN the last few years, our group is starting to get into taking a trip or two 'out west' each season. A few of us have picked up 'mountain' sleds, but most of the group is on 137-144's with 1.5"+ tracks. The group has been out to the Snowy Range twice (I personally missed both trips) and we are trying to figure out where to go this coming March, back to the Snowies or somewhere new?

What are your favorites / recommendations?

Closest best in my opinion is the Bighorns in Wyoming.
Otherwise West Yellowstone is hard to beat.

There can also be some decent off trail fun in the Black Hills.

I have been to togwotee many times and really like that area. Usually has some of the best snow around too.

We are seriously considering Togwotee, possibly staying at a place near Crooked Creek. Is it really only 20 mins by trail to the 'fun stuff' from that area? Is there going to be enough snow coverage still there in late spring on the east side?

I have stayed at Crooked Creek also. Yes, you don't need to go very far until your in the good stuff. How late in the year are you thinking? I have been there during Christmas and we had more snow in Minnesota. I have also been there in late march and the have had 3-4ft still. Depends on the year. You just need to watch the snow depth reports or simply give the place you are staying a call.

It would be late March, either 11th to the 17th or the 18th to the 24th. We dont want to lock into a place only to find out we have to trailer in.

If you stay closer to Tog then I don't think you would have a problem. There should be plenty of snow still around.
