I just got my 06 apex last week as some of you might know from a previous post and i have a few questions. The search on this site never returns results you are looking for. The owners manual tells you how to remove the shroud, side covers, and top cover. i can do that. But how do you remove the headlight/gauge assembly? Pics are much appreciated. i need to get to my battery and oil filter as well as check my fluids for the first time and i dont want to break anything, especiialy plastic pieces cuz they are not the same once you break tabs etc. I know this from streetbike and quad plastics. thanks for the help sorry for being a newbie and asking stupid questions.
Remove all the shrouds. One 10 mm bolt on each side of the headlight assembly and disconnect the two connectors on the left side.

I've found it much easier to remove the entire bracket with the headlight still attached to it. 4 bolts and it's off.
which four bolts?

Where the bracket attaches to the upper frame. 2 per side. This allows better access to everything on top of the motor. Look at this picture. The 4 mounting points are shown;

What about the lower side panels? five screws?

lower panel is five screws. Just make sure you use a #3 screwdriver or you will be certain to strip the heads on them.
go to Ulmers link on how to change oil in the frequently asked questions. You do need to remove the bolts on the side panel. Easy job, take your time and spray some luthium grease on the steering parts while it is all open.

x1000...you absolutely have to use a #3 screw bit or you'll be replacing your screws like I did last year. Anything else will strip them out! I use a drill in reverse with a #3 bit and LOTS of pressure as those screws are set tight. I couldn't manage to loosen them with just a screwdriver myself.
