Finally a VIPER owner!!!

Ha! I don't think I could keep up with your 250 hp viper! Bring a thermos of hot coffee so you have something to occupy yourself with while you wait for me to catch up!

Well then your really gonna love what I've got this season!

But mostly like the run from Hurley to Copper Harbor and back.
That's a long haul in a day. How long does it normally take you? Must be the turbo pushing you supersonic...

I have been doing that for years even before the turbo. It depends on the route but it can be a tick over 400 miles. Last time I left at 8 am and got back at 2 am on stopping to gas, eat & pee. I did it once on an RX-1 and could not walk for 2 days.

400 miles in a day; you are a machine! I when to tech and loved the trails in the Keweenaw. I've only experienced 2 days in 5 years that the trails were beat up there and that was a low snow year after one of the big runs, maybe winter carnival.

Back in the day I used to go to Greenland by Pat's Yamaha with the RX and a bunch of parts (skis, shocks & sway bars). It was 37 miles from one end to the other with nothing on the trail till it Teed up in Twin Lakes. I would hit the stop watch and go to the top make changes and then run it back. one time I did it 7 times for just over 518 miles in 1 session but it took almost 30 hours straight to do it. In 2005 I bought my first Apex, I did the 500 mile break in on it in one day. Changed the oil filter the next day and then totaled it 17 miles later :o|

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I'm still impressed you are doing that kind of mileage in a day! We normally do 100 mile days which takes roughly 8 hours with pit stops, lunch, etc. We BS a lot and have someone with eye issues who sometimes has a hard time with depth perception. Most of them are also older... I think we stop around every 12 to 15 miles depending on trail, conditions and speeds.

Oh I have those days also especially when riding with buddies that never get away from their wives, or ever work on their sleds!!!! I ride alone a lot and have 1 or 2 buddies that are iron men, but I too am getting old now and at 53 I can only do those rides once or twice a season and only on the viper, anything else would kill me.

2 seasons ago I left Hurley at 8 am on my Pro r 800 SB cause the XTX had blown a motor and made it the whole way to Copper Harbor but could not make it back. I hurt so bad that I booked a room at the super 8 and stayed there 2 days.

It is still fun to ride with young kids in their 20's and at over 100 miles already in, turn north and when we stop I say lunch in Calumet? and their eyes get big and they say how far is that?

Yamadog you are a different breed! I don't think I've ever done over 150 in a day. I look for a lot of off road stuff, but even without that I don't think I could do 400 in a day!

Come along this winter I will show you the way! I am fat, old and lazy but can still do it.
