Waited to ride this thing all summer as I bought it as a leftover in March. First ride consisted of mostly ditch running in about 12-18"of powder and a little rough trail riding.

Running the powder was a blast, even after all of a sudden it felt like I dunked my left foot into a tub of water. But thats ok I have been reading about the Nytro all summer and know there is a fix. Oh and by the way I spoke to the service mgr. at my dealer who has been with Yamaha for a very long time and he told me no problem to block off the foot well venting holes with aluminum. Just before I do I'm going to run it hard and take a temp reading of clutches with infrared. then block it and try again. will post results.

The rough trail was good too but the ride was like a brick compared to my Vec. Again been reading all summer and expected a lot of susp. tuning. I started off with the shock springs at softest setting according to manual. But I know theres room to go softer yet. Torsion spring on med. Rear shock clicker 4 clicks from hard. I moved this to 8 clicks from hard and also backed off the center shock till the spring rattled then snugged it. I hope this helps. If I run the center shock that soft, do I have to also pull the front strap?

As I recall, I have my strap pulled one hole. I have my spring set like yours. I can see @3 or 4 threads.

haha finally a guy that does his research before he buys a snowmobile. Thats good, most people don't look into this kind of stuff and then come into these forums bashing the brand because the sled doesn't perform exactly how they want it to. My hat goes off to you!

Don't bother with the block off plate Yamaha sells for the wet foot syndrome. One blown belt and it is junk. I was lucky and didn't ruin my secondary like some others have. I bought Klim boots to take care of the wet foot issue.

Personally I like my rear torsion springs on soft for all around riding. Otherwise there was too much chatter from the stiffness.

Put a piece of duct tape over the toe kick ( on the inside )...I haven't had a wet foot yet...also invest in a good pair of boots..ones with a waterproof bottom half.

The Torsion Springs only function is ride height. If it's to soft and the rear skid couples to quick and that causes poor ride quality.
