20181127_195934.jpg Travelled two hrs North to some really good snow conditions a few days ago. Got to try out my new Ice Ripper 1.6", and my shimmed skis. First off, the track. What a difference compared to the 1.75 BC. On some hard packed/almost icy sections is where it really showed. No sliding...traction everywhere..predictability. All while still providing good deep snow bite. 5 out of 8 guys had their scratchers down...never had to drop mine. Am assuming the pre studs helped with cooling...as compared to no studs.

I shimmed my Curves last week. It wasn't until half way through the 70 mile day that I realized I wasnt really fighting any darting issues. So..I'd say the shimming has definetely helped.

Braaaaaap on....

Very jealous that your out riding already. It most likely wont be until Christmas for me if I'm lucky. These Minnesota winters haven't been much to talk about the last few years.

Got about a foot in our area, but trails aren't allowed to be ridden on until Dec 15. There are a few places to go if you want to drive a ways, but usually all beat up as they are not groomed. 2 more weeks and hopefully we get a good dumping.

Can you share a little more about shimming your curve skis? Shim thickness, where you placed them, etc.

I would also be interested in what improvements you've done with the curve skis on your Nytro...shimming, along with reversing the rubber insert (if done ?), type of runners you are using ect...would really appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thanks

Up in my neck off the woods.. did u stop at the day and ross trailer ?

Yeah..groomers are out here til 15th of Dec...but enuf snow to go anywhere...at least for now.

Shims

Took off ski saddle...cleaned bottom well. Cut 3 pc's of thin aluminum (think about 1/16" thick, and same dimension as the bottom of back end rubber), and drilled two holes through all 3 pc's. Stuck 3m two sided tape on bottom of the rubber saddle (on the rear end), then added one pc of alum...then 3m tape again..another pc of alum...tape...and so on. Stuck everything on the saddle bottom (the bigger end), then screwed two ss screws through all and into saddle. Reinstalled rubbers and Curves. The shim thickness I went with was about a 1/4"..and just slightly raised my 4"carbide tips off the floor after reinstalling skis and lowering sled flat. Brother did similar to his Apex using old slider pieces and raved about it. So thought Id give it a try. Did make a noticeably diff against my Nytro darting.
