Are the Fox float guards worth it or a waste of $ ? I read a post about snow being packed into the guard and possible causing damage.

I would think they were really designed for use on ATVs and dirt bikes where the potential for debris damage is more likley.

But they do add a little :bling

I have them on and haven't encountered any problems. I have quite a few "dings" on my a-arms do to poor trail conditions and rocks being spit up. I wouldn't want the shocks to get hit by rocks.

Waste, as they get packed in snow and take out your seal.
Been there, done that.....

I got em and no probs at all! Even playin in the U.P. powder I have not had issues.

Thought about getting em, till I read the post about snow/dirt packing in around them and killing the shock seals. Also in the fox shock manual, it states that dinges and dents on shock body (minor dinges/dents) do not affect the shocks performance and do not result in air loss.

Put them on in Nov. not alot of mls but alot of rocks from railroad grade and low snow. I did turn the shocks upside down so snow would fall out but didn't have problems either way. took the flames off the hood so they do add color :bling

air shocks

have them on both my rtx and nytro and would not go back to reg shocks, have shock boots on the rtx and no boots on nytro and see no diff.
am going to put covers on nytro for looks
tried to air done to ride softer (40 psi) and did ride softer untill I would hit bigger bumps then would ride stiff.
aired up to 70 psi and night and day diff, rode just as good in small stuff and floated threw rough stuff.
give them a try just air up 65-70 psi to start
ckm

Thread is not asking about Fox Floats in general, but asking if the plastic guards Yamaha sells for the Fox Float shocks are any good.
