Question to the the folks with RTX's. Are any of you happy with the money spent on your floats to help handling? I have heard many on this site that are raving about the dual rate springs helping from Hygear but not much about the floats. Should I spend the $500 on fixing the floats or try to sell them on ebay and buy a coil spring set up with DR springs. Thx in advance! -Matt

I was never really disappointed with the stock Floats but over the summer I sent them to Fox for a rebuild and upgrade to Float 2's. This cost $300 and has shown a noticeable change in compliance over smaller lumps and bumps. The harshness of the original Floats is much diminished. The Fox upgrade included valving to my riding weight too.
I ran my Floats at 75 psi and now run the 2's at 85 psi.

I was unhappy with my stock floats at 65#, too harsh on the trail, I added Fett Canisters (2) and now run the shock at 70# and it is much more compliant and similiar to the GYTR except they corner better and don't dive like the GYTR's did.

I really disliked my floats on an 08 RTX, and I love stiff suspension. Big improvement after Carver revalved them, shoulda done it right away.

So for only 300 dollars it turned your floats into the float 2's that are on the SE? With a custom valve job? That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I would still check with Fox if you have the Evol's. I got from the guy I spoke to at Hay Days that Fox was interested in capturing more of the rebuild and revalve business going on and were offering very reasonable prices for the service.

If you have Fox shocks less than 90 days old Fox will valve them for you for free! Its in their literature

i just got back from ny and here is my opinion on hygears trail pro setup with the fox floats.
if you dont like the arm rattle and teeth chatter going over stutter bumps then you will like this setup from hygear. i rode 411 miles in two days and played with them pretty often, settling in at around 72 psi and the valve screw one turn out on the soft side. it did take away 75% of the chatter so to me it was a great improvement. but the thing i noticed the most about hygears setup was that the sled carved corners like never before, no inside ski lift,no pushing through the corner and very little darting. hygear is some seriuos coin but to me, the way it handles now is night and day better than stock. IMPO, hygear is worth the money, keep the floats and have them revalved because even if you get new shocks you dont know if they will need to be revalved to your liking. good luck and i hope this helps.
