I have a 2011 Apex base, installed woodys 6” duallys on it. My fuel light this season was lightning at between 80 and 90 miles. Is this normal? Most riding was done on PA trails that were not groomed. I’ve gone over the sled and had it serviced can’t find anything. Do others have experience with if these carbides alone could cause this kind of mileage? Just trying to figure out before I replace perfectly fine carbides. Thanks in advance.

I have the same model and year and mine does the same. I average just a little over 12 mpg.I have a 2011 Apex base, installed woodys 6” duallys on it. Sounds like normal fuel mileage.

I have aggressive snow trackers on my skis and do feel a bit of drag when you let off the throttle in some conditions, you really notice on the trail when you hit a hard pack section seems to free right up with no drag, throttle position will play with mileage also, 80-90 miles is normal and is pretty good actually before your fuel light comes on, mine comes on at about 138kms which is around 80miles, but have seen it come on earlier from time to time.

sounds about right for milage. depends on trail conditions/hills. have gotten over 100 mi before light came on a few times but trails where hard and flat. my 11 is more sensetive than the 16 is and the 16 typically needs more gas at the stops as i ride it a bit harder than she rides the 11.
as to the carbides, only ran doolys on one sled that came with the skis and it was too much drag for its hp rating (30-40 hp) when in the powder. running much better in the powder with the single runner carbides on it.

I've been switching from my Vector to the 11 Apex this year . I had some close calls this year with fuel. Night and day different . I'm not used to 80-90 miles on a tank.
I was also wondering if there is a problem , but guess it is what it is !
Gotta love those Apex's. But the Vector gets it done just a well.

Fuel light coming on at 80 to 90 miles is normal.
You still have 20 to 30 miles you can go before the big F shows up on the dash.
Took my 13 Apex SE out the last day in warm sloppy conditions. Rode quite hard for first 85 miles and light started flickering then.
Rode another 20 miles easy on the throttle and got back to trailer at 104 miles .Guage showed F -4.
I tested a few carbides but not Doolys.
Deuce bars slowed it down a bit and decreased mileage about 1 mpg.
Switched to SnoTrackers and top speed came back, fuel mileage came back and handling was better.
Sounds like the Doolys are fine . Run em if you like them. When time to switch consider Agressive SnoTrackers.
BTW they work best on 2010 and earlier year Apex skis.

In my case, the '11 the fuel light setting is pretty cautious. I ran 850 miles this year with a friend on his '12 and my fuel light always came on before his. Both XTX with aggressive snowtrackers. My light always came on 10-15 miles before his. We took a wrong turn once and had to backtrack and we both thought we were screwed on fuel. I ran mine to F-0032 and put in 8.9 gallons. Buddy was showing F-0021 and he put in 8.8 gallons. That is the farthest I have ever pushed it.

Depending on the use of the fun flipper 80/90 is about right. Usually try to get fuel before the F -20 shows up. I try and make it a habit of never passing a fuel station, most of the time me gauge never goes under 1/4 tank before a fill up. This past season seemed like all the fuel stops were closing early, possibly due to my state Covid mandates and did see F -35 trying to get back to casino hotel and was sweating that one even though not alone so would have been able to get a lift for gas.
What is the farthest someone has pushed their F - reading too. I will say my 11 comes on sooner then my 09 by 5/10 miles.

I will have to admit when the counter starts, I slow down and conserve fuel. I would like to carry a can of fuel once and see how far I can push it.35 mi is an accomplishment with the light on. done 30 km with it on before but nice to know that 35 mi is possible.
Rode in a group to the pine stump with Mr Sled, the last 15 miles was with counter on and riding hard to keep up with the SWs and made it running hard.

why i miss the rack i had on my 11 as it had a klopin 1.5 gallon can on it. used it to extend my range about 4 times and given the gas in it to 10-12 others to get them to the pump to fill up. got high hopes for ulmers rack when he gets them done.
