Steve, what model Garmin do you have? Does it do everything you need it to?I take it back. Had a weekend off riding but it drove me crazy then this stupid disease a good buddy who had a sorta bad UP ride last and being deployed soon and a big snowstorm in UP made me go again! As you all know that goal. Heard of some Upers that didn’t want us WI people up there so was worried and Boarders closed. So we camped. Right in Kingston Plains. Awesome weekend trails were great and most of all the UPers were so friendly. I got treated like family from all. F the Corona!

Drivesmart with VV mapping and Ram mount was under $200 for whole setup and haven’t needed a map all winter. No issues other than it does rub the windshieldSteve, what model Garmin do you have? Does it do everything you need it to?

That looks like its gonna cost more than 20 $. Cool toy to PLAY with.
Started a sperate thread so the 2020 one isnt ruined.
I will say really like this. So much easier to use touch screen than the Nuvi and so much easier to see. Yes even in daylight.

I was asking him about it also! Running 2797 but like the idea of pinch to zoom. Gonna do the DriveSmart upgrade. Just wish they had a better cradle like the 2797.
I agree. It would fit under windshield better too.I was asking him about it also! Running 2797 but like the idea of pinch to zoom. Gonna do the DriveSmart upgrade. Just wish they had a better cradle like the 2797.
One tip that has really enhanced my riding is I always use Off Road mode for navigation. This makes a straight line as bird flies from you to the destination and as you move a dotted line to destination. It will not give turn by turn in this mode I dont believe but what it does is allow you to see alternate routes as you are riding. Just take trails that follow the line. There is almost always more than one way to get somewhere and I found a bunch of trails I have never been on this year navigating like that. One new awesome trail pays for the unit! Turn by turn seemed to confuse the unit many times sometimes going for a thousand miles out of the way. Nuvi was same issue. Would have to go intersection to intersection for destination. This off road mode totally eliminates the errors. I have also found that if you triple the mileage to destination estimate while in this mode you will have a pretty darn accurate estimate since its calculating distance in this mode as the bird flies and trails are never straight shot.
Off Road mode
Here I put Suring,WI parking spot in as destination from my house. The purple line is straight shot and I would go with about 200mi as a safe estimate of distance by trail 68x3
