Gauges Not Working

Mileage is stored in the guage
My guage died this year at 4850kms
I bought used guage which was at 21000 kms

Did yours act the same as mine before it died?

Does anyone know if the mileage can be reprogrammed? I'm sure a dealer would have to do it if its possible....

No...mine got water in it
Mine would work for about 30 seconds, then tach would go erratic then die
It did this several times and then died completely
Sled still worked perfectly
I waited a while till a few came up on kijiji
Paid 100 plus shipping...works perfect..

That does sound like what mine was doing. I've been watching eBay but they're running $350-$400. Probably going to have to suck it up.

If you wait till end of winter, there will be guys parting sleds, and prices will drop.
Unless you are in a rush

you will pay based on the miles on the guage the higher the miles the less its worth. if it dies on the trail you can unplug the guage and it will run again just so you know for limping home if needed. you have such low miles i would first swap with friend like you said and if that fixes it then wait till off season and pay what it takes to get as close to correct miliage as possible. more then one on this site that part out. Lano is fair to work with so is hibshman25 to name just two that i have worked with

I got a friends pod to try on mine this weekend. His pod works perfectly, so it's looking like mine is surely bad. New one at the dealer is $850.

X2 on the ground block's. A friend's 07 RTX was doing strange thing's but eventually would turn over but not start. I held the key and started to push and pull on the main wiring harness along the inside of the delta box on left side between the air box and frame till I got some response. The ground block near the front left of the air box got hot from loose connection till a couple wires burnt off. There are a couple of these block's in the harness at various location's. You can see the rectangle shape in the harness wrap. I have heard and read about problem's with corrosion and so on with these in here before!

I've been searching online for a replacement gauge pod. New list price is $852, which my dealer quoted me. Partzilla has it for $592. I then noticed the gauge pod for a mountain sled is $150 less. What's the difference in gauge pods between my GT and a mountain?

Part number for my GT is 8fp-83500-00-00
Part number for a mountain is 8fs-83500-10-00

Your gauge is NOT bad, I had the SAME issue this past two seasons, drove me NUTS, after driving for a bit the ERR would pop up, the warning lights would come on and the tach stopped working. The only thing that stayed working was the fiel level... thought my new Motec ECU wasn't communicating. Tried a different gauge and it still went out / lost communication so I started pinning out harnesses and troubleshooting wiring.
It ended up being the darn headlight / cluster harness connector where it plugged into the back of the gauge. Found that out when I inadvertently touched that harness the tach would reset and sweep...
The female terminal plug in the connector for the communications wire got weak over the years and miles of vibration and would intermittently stop making a connection with the pin in the gauge.
I got a used headlight harness off Ebay and problem solved!
before you buy a high $$$ replacement gauge, loosen the headlight pod and wiggle the harness around to see if it re-creates that intermittent tach sweep...

i just bought a 2008 venture lite and am having the exact same problem did the new gauge pod seem to fix it?

Yes. I was able to put twenty miles or so on a few weeks ago and the new used pod is working like it should.
