i have a stock xtx and am upgrading to a backcoutry track. i am going to install a schmidt bros stage 11 clutch kit while im in there. question is should i gear the sled down to help with the extra track. i know im going to lose some top end just from the track itself. i dont want to be pegged out doing 75 when i do get on the trail or lake. any thoughts?

I ran mine last year with stock clutching and stock 21 tooth top gear and was seeing 99 - 101 MPH tops on long pulls. I have be talking to some other members onTY and they are seeing the same top end with the 20 tooth top gear but also seeing gains in acceleration.

So this year I have swaped in the 20 tooth top gear and I will give it a try. No chance to ride the sled yet... but soon enfough.

I dropped 2 teeth on top so I'm at 19/39. My track isn't a BC but it's a 136x15x1.75 hill-X track. I don't do much top end running but the one day that I did I was I was hitting 94-96 on the speedo. I'm guessing my true speed was around 88-90 mph.

According to the chart I have I should be topping around 88 mph, which seems consistent with what I saw.

But setting top speed aside, the sled was awesome out of corners and killer in the deep snow.

I just bought a SBM stage II as well so I'm looking forward to testing it out!

great glad to hear from everyone thats in my situation i think i will drop a tooth on top. schmidt bros has the clutch overdrive and sencondary clutch overdrive kits that will get top end back if i feel like it is needed. plus they claim to get a little more top end out of their clutch kits. i will start with the clutch kit and drop a tooth on top and see what happens. thanks a bunch

FYI Overdrive on your primary should be good for about 5-10mph on the top end. My 700 was machined for overdrive and those are the gains I saw. Same clutch.
