Gearing

I bet they were not double backers plates,i will never run single backers again, and I also don't stud the outside row any more as well,if you run double backer plates and even if you lose a nut on one, chances are the other stud with its nut still in place will hold until you figure out you have one nut missing.
I have studded every track, on every sled I've owned. Always just singles. No problems until my 09 Apex threw one. My brother was using it (he had an apex, but had gotten out of snowmobiling) He claimed the "idiot light" didn't come on fast enough, or he just missed it (it was daytime)...long story short, melted motor! So I'm going to try the doubles! I can't wait for April 1st...my order date!!

I had my apex studded with singles and doubles, a couple weeks ago I had one of the doubles tear out and go through my front heat exchanger which ended my season. Needless to say I now have an Ice Attak XT track in my garage that is going on for next year, and I probably won't be running studs again depending on how I like the Ice Attak XT. Thinking of putting that on the new sidewinder LTX LE I am planning on snow checking as well....should be the same track profile as the ripsaw II on there, but with a little extra ice traction from the built in studs.

But I can attest to the fact that doubles DO tear out, and when they do, they inflict twice the damage!

Ok guys you don't want to talk about Gearing than how is the Walleye fishing in Greenbay going this year?

Yup,we all have had our share of stud issues,i must of got lucky with the 06 ape I did all double backers down the middle, but I will never again replace my stock track with an ice ripper track, the 250 something little insert tips don't stop you or start you, they barely scratch the ice, they are ok just to have in order to maybe get out of a cold icy garage that the sleds have been in all night, but that's about it,if I had just studded my 07 apex with normal pics I would still have the sled, and it would not have sunk to the bottom of our lake. I had good studs on my 05 confusion and as the ice was breaking apart on me,as I nailed the throttle it caught and climbed out of the breaking up ice from under it.not the case w/the iceripper track.

One question, was it a new track,or old track with thousands of miles on it,and did you feel anything that hooked that plate on it,just seems funny that it tore the entire plate out,you must of caught it hard onto something to have torn it like that!

I can agree with you.
I will put on an Ice Cobra , on my Sidewinder , BUT , only with a minimum of 2 regular studs per section !
Those mini studs don't wear out , because they really are not doing much .
They are a good backup to the regular ones .
If you install studs properly , they stand a good chance of staying in , and do a periodic check for any partial pull outs or ones that may have loosened up.
The bottom line is , if you drive your sled like your trying to tear them out , they probably will .
A little good luck also never hurt the cause .

Well i guess that's why they make sooo many track variations & styles to please us all. Now let's get back to GEARING...or Walleye fishing

as far as worrying about matching up against the 850 and gearing...this sled has a tremendous advantage.....about 1000 rpms stock and up to 400 mire means you will leave him on the big end like he;s chained to a tree..its the holeshot that you will have issues with...and for that (and in general to keep you out of the wckets) you need studs...having a 200 h,p, un studded sled is a total waste....

Ive aggressively studded every machine Ive ever owned and never thrown a stud....that comes from poor installation or not enough studs...heres my cat turbo's studding...lets just say if you want a powerful machine to perform and be safe..you absolutely need them...same track as the ltx-le and you can see the actual tunnel protection

You dont have the " anti vibration bump" inside of your track?

My 137" viper was a pain in the #*$&@ to stud..... Stud in the bump just DONT work for me....

I totally agree whit you ! For that power and torque, we need stud, i mean real stud ,SINGLE ply track pre-studded is just not toff enough, for agressif and high milleage trail riding........

For the gearing " the speed table" gave me a posibility of 120mph whit 21/41. (.93 overdrive at 9000rpm) A lot of " re- flash" 1100T run 21/37 or 22/37

I DO have the silent drive bumps in there!

its all in the studs you chose ....if you use a thin profile head it sucks right down flush as if they werent even there...smooth as can be..

those studs that go through the nubs will be marginally less penetration....

How many milles you did whit the track in the picture?

I think youre selling yourself short on the top speed...take your rpms up to 9250-9300 , thats where the happy spot will be when a bit modded I bet.

Its around +1,5 mph\\\100rpm;)

thats no miles...and yes Ive occasionally bent one with that kind of power...Ive used others that never bent or break though...
