GPS for snowmobiling

That's right wizard, I can load my routes, waypoints and notes from my GPS to my PC or vice versa. I like to use my topo maps to create a route on my PC then transfer it to my unit. I love my GPS and wouldn't be without it. My brother in law and sister were going to hike into a lake that has no trails to it, I offered to let them use my Emap, they said they would find it ok without it.....They never found it. I told him I could have walked straight to it and I brought it up on the GPS and showed him . Now he's a believer.

thanks tree for the info. I think I'm going to go with the color magellan with the topo software .

B4 you buy check out the colour screen in direct sunlight, my Garmin 176c's screen washes out in the sunlight or a very bright overcast day.
I also have a Garmin e'trex vista that I like a lot better, it has the normal screen.
Here in Ontario I use the Fugawi software to upload & download trail, track & waypoints. This company has Topographic cd roms for just about anywhere in the world.
I've used a GPS fopr snowmobiling for the past 5 yrs, wouldn't be without it, I would recommend puchasing the 12 volt adaptor to
utilize your sleds 12 volt system to power it

Hey guys I just finished buying the Meredian Platinum. If you buy before New Years Eve (for those of us in Canada) you get a $50 US rebate from Magellan.

Anyone who has a RAM mount I would love to know how you mounted your GPS and where you mounted it. Also how are you powering the unit while riding?

I got mine from www.gpscentral.ca
