Did some testing today
i tested against a very good running 07 800 renegade stock vs hammertimes

best set up today was
38/20 hammertimes empty
p-g-p yammie primary spring
stock helix with silver yammie spring at 80 wrap.
This set up was a lot quicker then stock up to 75 mph. engagement was about 3800 rpm.
rpm,s were 8700 on top end.
clutch temps on primary & secondary were amazingly cool after back to back runs.
I did use a 8dn-00 belt from my 07 attak.

What kind of top end do you see so far? Mine has only hit 95-97 mph on the speedo on the lake. All stock so far.

I would like to do some clutch and gearing changes to try and pick it up but don't want to lose the bottom end (a trade off, I know ... can't have everything) .... I look forward to more of your reports .... JD from Thompson has only good things to say about your advice.

I was only running 6-800' today. clutching won,t gain anymore top end over stock. this sled is begging for more gear.

I most certainly agree on the gearing ... and will likely change mine before the end of the season .... waiting on recommendations from tuners like yourself. I did quite a bit of clutch and gear testing with my Polaris sleds (still have a shelf full of parts in the garage) but have not tried anything with this one yet ... still working on suspension adjustments.

Cheers & Merry Christmas!

21/39....wayyy to low but i guess it suits the purpose this sled was intended for.

I noticed you mentioned the 8dn belt?? These nytros use something different/different compound belt than the apex line?? Just curious because on the yamaha site it shows the 8dn as being the replacement belt for the nytro.

The 01 is wider. The 00 belt left some nasty circle grooves on the inside of the lower part of the shives after 1 day of testing. The nytro also has a larger jackshaft & none of the earlier secondaries will fit. You just need the outer splined shive tho; the inner is the same. I think a helix around a 44/40 dalton would work a little better then the stock 43. There is also a ton of other ways to set up these hc,s but I worked with what i had & knew would be close. There is a lot more left in this set up & this is just a preliminary round.

MNMSNOWBEAST told me to go one tooth higher on the top gear and you will an average of 5 mph on top end w/ out losing out of the hole. He did this on his RTX and hs buds GT and they were radaring 112 - 117 MPH. MNM has gone to Doo this year, but knows alots about getting these 4 strokes to go! I haven't played with anything except suspension. I want to put on some more miles on here before I feel the need to play with gearing.
