I put on some dual runners earlier this winter on my 03 rx1 and was impressed with them but now they seems to take alot of effort to steer in the corners. We haven't had snow for some time and the trails are quite hard, not icy (not melting here, we had -29C here for the past few nights ) just hard packed. Could this be causing the hard steering. It wasn't like this earlier in the year.

A few things you coud try:
Install a shim under the rear of the ski rubbers
Lube your steering bushings and components
Soften front ski shocks
Increase spring pressure on front shock in rear suspension

IMO the biggest steering problem there is, is trying to set up your sled for all snow conditions.
Some days I go from feeling like I am steering through stiff wet concrete to an absolute perfect set-up later the same day and into the evening without touching a thing.
Yamahas with PS have the best chance at handling these varied conditions.

Thats exactly what I think/hope is going on here. I'm thinking it is the hard pack conditions that is causing the problem because it wasn't a problem earlier on this year when the trails were softer. Although I do here a slight squeak in the steering also so I do believe the steering need some attention as mentioned. Season end is near and all my sled get a thorough going over before putting away for the summer. May have to add some grease nipples to the steering bushings.

Squeak=steering bushings/lack of lubrication.
Had the same issue last fall, steering really tight and squeaky (and it was on a stand in the air). I replaced the bushings (3 on my Attak) and greased with marine grease, felt like power steering when done. Bushings were cheap.
