Hay Days 2015, Role Call!!

I talked to 2 of the Japan guys, but we were by the Turbo YXZ by the FOX trailer. A couple things talked about, but not much.

Told them they need to come over and play in the snow more....LOL

I can't believe Chris Reid's post this morning on sled talk. I could have sworn I saw him there at Haydays, and here he did make the trek this year. I guess Tom got some facetime, but other than that, must have laid low.

As I mentioned in the comment section, I wish Yamaha would save something to be announced at Haydays one of these years. It would be cool to see a big crowd around the blue camp for a change for an announcement. Although, the buzz around the YXZ was pretty good.

I chatted with Chris for a brief bit of time. Told him I loved what he was doing with Yamaha Sled Talk Blog and tried to encourage him to keep posting. He seemed very genuine and like a great guy!

It was a great time! Glad I got to meet a few more TY folks. Was a lot of corporate folks at Yamaha tent. Anyone talk to some of the Japan guys? Thanks Mr.Sled for scoring us all some Yamaha goodies! Was a nice surprise.

Your very welcome :) I always find a way to scrape up something from Yamaha for all the great members that can take the time to swing over :)

We did talk a bunch, its always nice to talk to Chris. He is very positive and informative on Yamahas directions.

Here's a few pictures that I took from our area of the swap meet. Since we were in the swap area from Friday-Sunday we didn't have a chance to walk around much or take in the whole show until we packed up on Sunday afternoon and were finally able to check out the vendor/OEM area. After we walked around for a bit my wife and I were ready to finally sleep in our own bed after sleeping in the trailer for two nights only to find out that the battery in the truck was dead. Lucky for us one of our local Yamaha dealers was set up nearby our swap spot and the owner was more than happy to give us a jump start. Thank you Century Power Sports!

A tricked out SRX turned into a swap meet hauler. Pretty slick with his cooler full of beer at the ready. This guy passed by many times with a full load of parts each time.

A couple of pictures of a really nice couple who was checking out our Sno Scoot's for their daughter. She couldn't talk very well yet but she kept saying "VROOM-VROOM" when she was on the 'Scoot. A future Yamaha rider for sure.

Someone pulled out of the swap area early Sunday morning by us and had abandoned this Phazer. People were walking by and trying to pull off any parts that they could. After a while I talked to someone in security and they ran a VIN number check and found out it had been stolen in IL. They told me that every year stolen sleds are brought to Hay Days and parted out and left there.

Last picture of our neighbors swap spot across the way from us who were from Milwaukee. They had absolutely no snowmobile parts for sale but were still having fun and making out pretty good with their clever ploy of selling you a golf ball for only $5 but included either a Bloody Mary or a Screwdriver with the golf ball. Their spot quickly became known as the "Driving Range". Some of the stuff that I saw them sell included an old cash register, a Christmas tree stand, used baseball gloves, gardening supplies, and some Elvis memorabilia.

Was nice to meet you! Sure are some sweet sleds you have.

Yup that just proves how lazy most crooks are? instead of breaking it down so there was no VIN they left it in 1 pc not that anyone would think to check if they were stopped along the way.

bout 6 yrs ago I was with a group riding in northern MN and we quit riding at about 1 am cause they were tired. We were sitting in our room having cocktails and musing on how great of riders we were that day and we heard sleds and I said now there goes a bunch of true snowmobilers riding at 3 am. Then we looked out the window and 4 of our sleds were gone.:o| I called the cops and the 2 guys with sleds still left took off after them. They had a 10 min head start due to having to gear up. fortunately the groomer had gone through and the fresh tracks led us right to the lair. When the cops got there 2 of the Polaris sleds were already in 100 pcs and the motors were gone. They used a saw zall and chopped them to pcs. They found parts to over 100 sleds in the woods behind the place.

Thank goodness a Yamaha is a bit harder to hot wore than Polaris which in the old days did not require a key.

Nice to be able to bust those crooks. Where was this at?

We were at the Country Inn in Virginia. Yes we busted them! the adult who owned the garage got 6 months probation the 5 minors involved got 1 yr probation. Restitution to the 2 guys that lost sleds was $25 a month which just stopped coming after about month 4. After repeated calls they were told that there is nothing that can be done. They were juveniles (17) then and are now adults.

But that's ok I bet those guys learned that crime does pay..... wait that's not right!

Should have just gone there with a baseball bat!!!!!! They would have found them in the spring when the snow melted. It was the first night of a 4 day trip, luckily one other guy & I had a spare sled. Jamie still rides Yamaha today after that experience. One more convert under the belt.

Well when they all started with a lawn mower key (except Yamaha)... anyone could take them back then.

Tom, where did you post the group picture taken at the Yamaha trailer on Saturday?
