Hi!
Is the heat shield on the muffler necessary on a 2011 Apex XTX? Mine has come loose from the muffler.
Thanks in advance/Lasse.

This is what I used for the bottom half of the heat shield as the material was starting to disintegrate/come apart. Not sure if it was necessary but at least there's something:

witch one? if it is on top of muffler, i would replace as it protects the seat pan from the exh heat.

That's the problem @maim, I don't think you can order/replace just the lining; would have to order the complete cover/protector. That's why I posted what I used. Thought maybe it could be used in his application as well.

i replaced the upper cover in your pic as the liner was basically gone on my 11. the lower was fine at that time other than i glued the lower in place with high heat silicone. i have used that style on betsy when stock failed and on an atv to sheild the plastics from the exh heat.

a picture would help with where op is concerened.

This is what it looks like.
Under the seat.
Inside the track tunnel. The heat shield is directed downwards, towards the drive track.
Can I drive without the heat shield without risking any complications?

in the track tunnel, you should be fine. the only time it might be an issue is in low snow conditions.
