My wife has a 12 Vector ltx and I would like to add a heated seat for her. Has anyone done this and how?

Check out this thread. He shows you basically how to do it

This is where he got the heater from. I highly recommend this company.

Thanks for the info. My dealer quoted me around $400 to install a viper seat heater on her vector. Seemed pricey! The heat demon heating element seems small but I have never dealt with one before either. I wonder if the heat demon is comparable to the viper seat heater?

I would send Heat Demon an E-mail and ask them if they have different sizes. The heating pad does look small but I road the sled that 4strokeluvr111 installed the seat on and the whole seat seemed plenty warm.

Call Heat Demon directly and ask for Anthony. He'll answer any questions you may have. Tell him 'Uncle Adolph" sent you. I'd be happy to answer any questions as well. I'm not on this site too often during the off season so PM me your email address and we can take it off line of you want.
Yamaha does not use the Heat Demon seat heater. It's a pretty straight forward install if you are mechanically inclined. To me the most challenging part is restapling the seat top fabric back onto the seat pan. As it usually does, the term "use the right tool for the job" applies here. The heater pad isn't too small at all. There are a couple of different switch options as well.
No way would I pay $400 for the install but that's me. If you're not confident of your abilities, then pay the dealer to do it.

Ok, so heat demon it is. Where exactly do I grab a power source from on a Vector? I want it to turn off when the key is off so it won't draw the batt down. Also where have people been putting the switch? It looks like a pretty big unit that has to be surface mounted. The kits on Amazon are not the same as the ones you get from the manufacturer, at least that's what they told me via email. Heat demon tech support never answers the phone.

Coolio - if you want, PM me your email address and we can take this offline and it'll be easier for me to help.
But if you don't want to do that post a picture of the on/off switch you are getting. If you're getting the "standard" on/off switch you can mount it in the handlebar pad. To me that's the easiest way to do it. You will need an extension cord from Heat Demon to do this however. The ext. cord goes from the seat pad all the way up to the h-bar pad.
For power, pull the power directly from the battery using a heavy duty relay. The accessory circuit (cig. lighter) is the best place to pull your "trigger" power for the relay from. From the battery install a 10A (I am checking to make sure this is correct) inline fuse to protect the circuit.
What year Vector is this going on? Ooops! Sorry...I see it's a 12 Vector LTX
(I will post a picture on my handlebar pad mounted switch later today)

Thanks for the help. I sent u a message. This is going on 2012 Vector ltx ( my wife's) and it's just like new so I want it to be near perfect. This sled doesn't have a handle bar pad. The heater will be installed by an upholstery shop who is also going to replace some of the foam to stiffen the seat up a bit for her. The switch in the pic on the website looks to be an oval surface mount unit with an acc power port built in to it as well.

I have the heated seat all installed and it works. It hasn't been ridden yet - no snow. It did hook it up with a relay so it will only work when the sled is running. I put the switch on the left side of the dash. I also eliminated the huge switch and outlet assembly that Heat Demon provides. I just used their switch alone. The upholsterer who installed the heater in the seat also cut out a piece of foam in the middle and put in a much stiffer piece. My wife loves it now and she can't wait to try out the heater.

Heated seat update. It works awesome and she loves it! We also had the upholsterer replace some of the foam with a stiffer foam. This too came out fantastic and was a huge improvement.

The WRP +2 Seat I installed was a huge improvement on my 14 LTX.
