Helmet Communicators

well someone i knew was getting rid of thier(i didnt know until today) so i bought thiers. they are the collet 900's so we'll see how they work. thanks for all the advice.

now i can understand about how they dont want to fit on my modular helmet w/ the mic. looks like they would be great for open face helmet.

On the Ski Doo helmet, just use a hole punch and slide the pick up tube through it. Make sure you only make the hole as big as the tube and NOT as big as the mouth piece.

what did you do take apart the comm. by taking the tube off then slide it thru and reinstall? my helmet is still too tight for it i beleave. its a little on the snug side.

The tube is just a rubber hose with a wire inside so that it holds it's shape. The sound travels up the tube so you don't want to pinch it completely. The end of the tube comes off, just twist and pull. When you put it back on make sure you line up the keyway, look closely at the end and you'll see it. If it's no aligned the sound won't make it up the tube.

Comunicators

Sold mine because my wife would not shut up.
Slow down, Slow down. She would actually try to have long chit chats over them. They are really only good for slow riding. As soon as you hit any speed the wind noise makes the mics clip in and out. Also realized they are really only good for one or two words at a time. Like ROCK or ONCOMMING, You would have to make a noise to activate the VOX then say something. More of a pain in the butt then they are worth. Once I switched to a BV2S I sold them.

I use a FireFox throat mic on a Rino 530 GPS/GMRS radio. Astonishing range on that radio and the throat mic is really really clear. The supplied earplugs really quiet sled noise, but get uncomfortable during a day of riding, so I converted them to some molded earpieces I had my local audiologist/hearing aid specialist make for $20 each. The system will do VOX, but I prefer a PTT velcro'ed to my left index finger.

well the sno fones i bought and tried are up for sale as i didnt like how they worked so said the hell w/ it and will have to buy mirros i guess.

I just use my Chatterbox, the same one that I use on my sportbike and ATV the rest of the year. Work great, i use mine mainly for listenting to music cause no one else in our group has a helmet radio but I can talk to them on thier FRS radios.

Only problem I've found with my MP3 player is I have to keep it warm when I'm riding the sled!
