Looking for feedback on Rugged radios from people who have them. About ready to pull the trigger on a couple sets.

Are you talking about Helmet Coms? We have Sena 20S-01 and Blue Tooth Music to them. Best Coms we have ever used.

Interested as well. We used the Sena SMH10 last year between two people. It worked great, no issues. Looking to upgrade to the newer mesh units.

The downside to most of the comm units is the use of Bluetooth to communicate between units. The range goes down pretty quickly if there are obstacles and topography changes. The rugged radio setup used real walkie talkies for better range. On the other hand, the blue tooth makes switching from audio, to music, to phone, to comm very seamless and easy.

Bought these a month ago and haven't had a chance to use them yet but they get very good reviews and I know a member or two use them. They are reasonable in price at $200 CDN for a pair. Up to 4 users, bluetooth, music, etc..

Our group has used the walkie Talkie set up in the past, they worked great but not any better than the newer comms. Terrain is the biggest down fall with any radio set up. Straight line sight the walkie talkie set up will be the best but the negatives of a walkie talkie are big. One is you have a ton of cables to deal with, two finding a good place for the unit and three the push to talk and cord. After trying many comms we have settled on the Cardo comms with mesh connect. We tried using other comms but could never get them to connect correctly. Meshing is so easy, you create a group...done. If you fall out of the group the radio will tell you, when you catch back up and rejoin (automatically) the radio will tell you you have rejoined. Battery life has been really good so far but you can charge the unit while still using it if need be. Our group of 7 uses Rocz power supply so keeping cell phones, comms and GPS units charged is easy. Hope this helps with your decision.
