My 05 Vector overheated when a stud punctured the front heat exchanger and all/most of the coolant leaked out. While it is claimed that it was stopped almost immediately, there is some evidence to the contrary such as melted plastic caps, ignition coils etc. While the dealer said it probably wasn't worth the cost just to see if it could be repaired, I've taken on the challange (a bet that may have been fueled by alcohol, can't remember what the wager is though) even though the most I've ever done before is change spark plugs and the ever popular leaking oil tank. I also have 2 other Vectors so at worst case I've got a lot of spare parts. Hopefully I can get as much commentary as possible.
I've disassembled virtually everything except primary sheave which I guess will need to come off if I want/need to check the water pump?
Had the front heat exchanged repaired (welded) and reinstalled but not rivitted yet as I though it might be a good idea to pressure test it first?
I filled it with water and have a leak where it enters the top of the block, removed the pipe, examined o-ring (looked ok) but still leaks probably will try replacing anyways.
The crankshaft turns, and will pop out the ignition coils (no plugs) if they aren't pushed in to tightly so I have some compression (good sign I'm hoping) Thermostat tested ok
Anything else I should/could do before I buy any more parts, I can steal ones from my other sleds for testing? I'd hate to spend $$$ only to find the thing is truly @#$%^ Is it possible/advisable to try and get the engine started without reinstalling the suspension etc?
At the very least I'm learning a lot . Any/all comments will be greatly appreciated.

I would give it a leak down test ( The eng. that is ) to make sure you dont have a head gasket or some thing bad . Make sure you have good compression to ( well that will show up with the leak down test )
