Nope, just an XF 8000.. he's riding back to grab my truck and trailer....
Cannon, do you think it's a battery issue vs a solenoid?
The shifted plate might make sense as we were riding pretty hard. Once I get it home I'll get it on a volt meter.
Like I said, when jumped from the truck it fired IMMEDIATELY.

I just went out to check the dash voltmeter and it's completely dead. Doesn't even flicker...

Its probably just a shorted battery. But still could be that fuse since if batt is dead and not being charged sled will not run. Has to at least be charging. Fuse or shorted batt.

I'll double check the fuse, but I have my fuse box unclipped and I was able to pull it out from under the hood.. hope it's a shorted batt at this point..

Thats probably all it is.

My guess. Battery took a #*$&@. I have had it happen on cars and trucks. Cell goes bad and its done in an instant. No real reason, just happens.
keep us posted. happened on my sled. started rode for three miles shut it off dead nothing good thing i was with a group and had jumper cables

Rode the sled 72 miles, got to our destination and had dinner. About an hour. Ran perfect the whole way up including a couple stops with restarts. Went outside to leave, tried starting the sled. DEAD. Gauge lights come on, but nothing. Checked the connections at the battery including the relay. The hot side of the relay was loose. Tightened it and got a jump, fired right up. Pulled the cables and it died immediately. Thoughts?!?
I only have basic tools with me and no voltmeter.
I have done that, loose battery connection runs battery stone dead. Then you have to get some charge in the battery so it will stay running. Most powersports don't charge much at an idle, just an FYI.

Well after I pulled the battery earlier today and a much closer inspection of the terminals, they were lightly corroded with a thin but almost slimy layer over just the +/- terminals. The ring terminals were completely clean. I did also notice the nut inserts had "contact burns" on both. So I cleaned them up and threw it on the tender for the last 12 hours, let it sit for 2 hours, and took a voltage reading. 12.77v on the bench.. In the morning I'll throw it back on the sled and see if it'll fire up.
To be continued....

Upon my preseason check up, I found the battery terminals to be a little loose. No idea how they could loosen up over the summer. Perhaps something we all should check? Hope your problem is solved....The ring terminals were completely clean. I did also notice the nut inserts had "contact burns" on both. ..To be continued....

I use loctite on the bolts or battery

Well I finally got a day off and tested the battery again, its holding 12.7-.8 volts for the last 4 days off the charger. I filed/scotch pad cleaned all the rear terminals and dielectric greased all connections. Hit the key and it fired right up. Went for a quick 30 mile ride and all is well.
Moral of the story- even if the rings look good, the lead posts themselves might be an issue! Keep em clean and you shouldn't have this issue. I still can't believe there wasn't a single glitch or light flicker on the 72 mile ride up before this happened. And we were riding at night so I should have seen it.

Loctite all the bolts and nuts at battery posts and solenoid also. If they come loose the unseen arcing puts gunk on there that will not pass current. Glad it was simple.

Yup I should have said I did that too. A little overlooked maintenance caused a huge issue at the time
Simple fix for sure.
And I did not replace the battery.
