HJC IS-MAX helmet sizing question

pretty much set on getting this helmet. tried on a couple today and was shocked at how tight they fit for a given size. obviously sizes differ between helmet types and manufactures but i've never worn anything over a large. mostly worn Shoei and Simpson. i picked up a large and no way would it fit. tried the XL and even that felt too tight. not sure if the XXL would be too big or not don't have access to one to try. gonna order it online so there could be issues if i don't get the right one first time. i don't think my noggin is that big by any stretch, it seems these things run major small. anyone have similar or any experience with sizing on this helmet? thanks

I bought a Z1R helmet online, and it fit perfectly. I used their (Z1R) measing process and sizing chart before I put in my order.
