On Friday, June 23, American Honda announced that Honda R&D Japan developed “the world's first Electric Power Steering (EPS) system for ATVs.†Two days later, on June 25, Yamaha Motor Corp. USA showed dealers the 2007 Grizzly 700 FI Automatic 4x4 - a unit featuring Yamaha Electric Power Steering (YEPS).
While Honda said the first application of EPS on a production ATV “is anticipated in the U.S. in the near future,†Yamaha dealers attending the manufacturer's recent business meeting in Las Vegas were able to ride the '07 Grizzly 700 on a prepared course.
Yamaha says the YEPS system employs an electric motor to assist the driver in turning. The electronic control unit in the steering system takes inputs from a torque sensor in the steering shaft and activates the EPS motor when the driver turns the bars, thereby reducing the turning effort.

Typical Honda, they brag and blow about leadership this and innovation that but they seldom every deliver the real deal.
At least we can usually count on Yamaha to talk the talk and walk the walk.

Honda should concentrate on building cars and leave the motorsports industry to manufacturers who have not lost their passion for this type of product.
