Hot belt temps

I actually haven’t used the hurricane bar for a a while. Been checking with calliper and straight edge. Pretty sure that’s where the bar put me. Any how I’ve ended up taking 1mm out so now 57.8 DTAY-1 are at 76.6 and ended up with my purple spring at 9-1 one. On average my belt temps probably dropped 30* or more in comparison to what I saw on my previously posted set up. I’m pretty happy now. On a 120 mile ride on Wednesday I could drive it as hard as want and the highest temp I saw was 206* a far cry from 229*. Similar conditions that saw 225 plus only produced 185*. Big gains in wy world.
Question if I pull a little more weight will it have similar effect as more spring.

Brent
Kind of a loaded question. If you pull weight your RPM will rise and you should be controlling RPM with the primary.
Secondary spring is for tension and the more tension the higher the RPM so yes to your question, but you should not increase belt tension if it's not necessary.

Thanks.

The only reference I have for rpm is the max rpm recall and it’s at 8840. I never seem to notice rpm when riding hard. To busy hanging on and remembering to breathe. I haven’t done any top end runs since the gear change this fall. Im thinking that’s probably the most accurate top rpm test?

Thanks for the reply that helps me verify my thought process.

I’ll post my results as it may help someone else. It took me a while as just a follower of this site to figure out that there is no one set up that is the “One” as there are so many variables.

Thanks again

Hey mike did you check into the warranty on those belts that blew if I may ask?

No, they both have already been warrantied once.

Thanks.

Top RPM recall is really worthless. Don't ever go by that when running a machine. It only records the highest peak RPM, and If you logged you'd see a bunch of fluctuations and spikes. Don't clutch according to that. Find a field or area you can run in while glancing or looking at the tach if you don't have logging at least. The best way is logging the information obviously.

I log everything myself, every time the machine starts it's logging and I can look back at the whole ride.

Thanks I kinda figured that on the max rpm. Do you have to run it to max speed for the the engine to pull max rpm. I haven’t focused to much on rpm as I struggled with a period of Knock issues for quite awhile. Now with the lower primary weights I’m running I have no knock at all every other knock fixed have been tried it turns out that the lighter I went the better it got.im going to focus on rpm now that I’m seeing better belt temps

Sorry for what might seem like silly question. I know from others that have asked and got help has helped me.

Thanks

8840 is to low on a recall for max rpm.. the recall is not ideal but its all you have.. you should see 9000-9200 on the recall. Find somewhere to hold it tight and check it. Somewhere SAFE and wide open.. It should hit @ 9000-9200 and settle around 8800-9000.. drop the weights down SLIGHTLY
