Hot belt temps

Not sure on purple spring. Is the Dalton b/o gen2 or original? I know Mike Knapp on here talks about the two springs and their is a difference. I just feel your slightly off one way or the other. And feel it’s definitely the secondary wrap. I always start lower wrap and go higher and just watch temps. You can sometimes feel the secondary slip when it’s to soft/not enough wrap. I also feel that track is going to make it slightly harder to find the sweet spot. Hoping someone would chime in that runs that track and those gears. Because it’s definitely a factor.
OR your offset. A lot have issues with the stub shaft moving after blowing belts. Is your stub shaft where it should be? Like has not moved. So check that stub shaft and play with the wrap on the secondary. Don’t be afraid to try that cat white.

Offset is good and checked regularly. One thing I question is my float set up. If I turn the deflection adjuster to drop belt into secondary. Then back it off to where I have it set to have proper deflection. If I can move the clutch side to side then that would mean I have float right. If I remove shims or cut aluminum spacer so there is no side to side that would be a no float set up right? Am I on the right track or way off
Right now I would be set up with lots of float by accident way more than one would set it up with out deflection adjuster could that be some of my problem

You need a washer that fits inside your helix and seats on the secondary shaft. Shims will be between that washer and the outside Helix washer.

To float or lock down? Many on here are floating. I think at this point you should check the stub shaft and see if it’s moved. Then check offset and worry about float or not to float. I just don’t think that’s causing your issues. Could be part of it but you did not post if you checked for movement of the stub?? Has to be checked and fixed FIRST

So to confirm to have no float the aluminum plug needs to be flush to the out side of the secondary before installing the adjuster. Washers to move the plug out then use (same shims as on the inside) to tighten down clutch

Does that sound right

The stub shaft has not moved I check that often and my offset is 58.8 I have the hurricane tool for I know how important that is and check it often even if I haven’t blow belts is a while.

If I have unknowingly been running with a lot of float. Could that be an issue

What adjuster are you using? Are you talking the stock plug? IMO your float is not the issue.

Your saying this is what’s done to run it without float correct?

BOP and yes stock plug

I probably should hav just asked what is the procedure to set up for no float with a BOP deflection adjuster

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the input on the songs I really appreciate it

I don’t have a BOP adjuster and don’t want to misinform you on how to lock down secondary with no float. I still feel it’s not the float. It’s the wrap on that secondary spring.

That seems like a high offset for the Hurricane bar. I wonder if your bar is bent, try turning it around in the clutch and see what happens.

Pull another 1mm out of it and setup for no float. When I float I blow belts and can't get over 600 miles from them.

Hey mike did you check into the warranty on those belts that blew if I may ask?

I actually haven’t used the hurricane bar for a a while. Been checking with calliper and straight edge. Pretty sure that’s where the bar put me. Any how I’ve ended up taking 1mm out so now 57.8 DTAY-1 are at 76.6 and ended up with my purple spring at 9-1 one. On average my belt temps probably dropped 30* or more in comparison to what I saw on my previously posted set up. I’m pretty happy now. On a 120 mile ride on Wednesday I could drive it as hard as want and the highest temp I saw was 206* a far cry from 229*. Similar conditions that saw 225 plus only produced 185*. Big gains in wy world.
Question if I pull a little more weight will it have similar effect as more spring.
