How cold are the NYTRO'S

I have last years rtx, with the stock wind screen it hits me in the chest minding that i am 6'2 but i put the higher windscreen and the side dif on it also it helped alot. So its not that bad but on the -30 days it gets cold really cold on the sled

i rode an rtx for most of the winter last year and i will tell you that you will want to make sure you have high quality clotheing and layer up. its alot easer to open vents if you too hot.

THe handwarmer are no warmers, i put 06 apex bars on this week and the warmers are hot as hell. i had the mid. shield with side deflectors and the sled was to warm for me, i heat up when i ride so i put the no shield back on and it cools me down big time. i hope yamaha put different hand warmers on the 09's, if not your going to be miserable big time!!!!!

nitro

I've ridden the Phaser/Nitro, at the yami test rides, since they came out. I still don't like them. why would you subject yourself to the vibrating, cold, lower power, and bad handling, when you can have an Apex chassis sled. To save 50#?

All the other Manufacturers have very nice lighter, good handling sleds for less money.

I love my 06 Apex.

Lower power.......Forget it not even worth my time. :o|

cold

for the taller guys and gals, build yourself a taller windshield, see pic's on my website of one idea for a taller windshield. Worked fine at 50 below, good Klim gear is always helpful too. The key is to dress so that you don't sweat, even if your driving it hard. Being in riding shape is a must also, moisture is a killer. ( look in the 07/08 gallery )

It's not bad in June. But January...brrrrrrrrrrr!

I never let the cold stop me. It's kind of a requirement for the sport.

WOW, alot of whinners complaining about a little cold. Jeepers, do what I do when it gets cold.......Ride the Nytro like it wants to be ridden. Never have I ever had any complaints about being cold after hitting moguls all day.

First, the FX Nytro is a big bump sled not a trail cruiser. In other words, you will be active on the sled so you will not get as cold if just trail riding and squeezing the throttle.

For the handwarmers, put on a set of gauntlets and your hands will be fine.

Kidding aside,I don't feel this sled is that cold. If you wear good gear and ride it like it is meant to be ridden then you will not be cold. With that being said,I have not road this thing anything under 5 out.
