How far will they go ?

that one looks really nice. still has the single keel skis on it too.

Sorry to hijack your thread guys but since you are all posting up th good deals you are seeing thought I would get in on it as well. The looks of these Yamaha’s is really starting to grow on me.

Apex with 12,500 km

I've mentioned to my wife about getting an Apex.. and have called a fellow that
has driven my Quadtrac and might be interested in it. (message) ahh.
No call back yet.
The wheels are in motion BUT the weather for next 5 days says "don't be stupid"
Just a quick trip down the 401 , in a snow squall anytime, area ..
A sled mag writer (thanks Hal) gave me the jacket after seeing the introduction of new sleds
in 2022 . 45 th badge on arm . Newest pic on back is a 2013 apex like the
one I'm sitting on. Got my 40th ball cap on and found a salesman more than
willing to take my picture. He maybe thought I might take less than 14 years
to buy one .. lol.
If I get one , is my GMC with 6.5' box and pro tailgate long enough
or just pay the fuel and take my enclosed 7x18.. Pro tailgate nice but fragile.

Take the enclosed! The last thing you'd want is any salt spray on that clean machine.

Have been in contact, purchased for his wife who has some shoulder issues ...
Suggested letting out front strap and put a steel runner on one side as power
steering helped and others brands were worse.. Will see if weather improves
by monday

So Stubbs , I will have to contact you sometime after i change ownership
and arrange insurance as "my" 2013 apex came with a permit on it.
Yes , sold quadtrac thurs afternoon and picked up apex thurs evening in
Toronto ( caught in 1 hr bumper chase going 15 miles across 401)
Terrible time getting it loaded from bare concrete as it is really studded.
I need to read manual to see if belt adj might make it launch at lower RPM.
Put plastic on barn floor for runners and currently have an old track in the
middle which I have sent shooting up the floor a couple times.
Certainly goes where you aim it. and only nailed it once in fluffy and the
fence came quicker than normal VK speed.
Will try some more when it gets bit warmer and not in a snow squall
Thanks for advise guys
Ron

nice!

now get it set for your weight and ride.

Waiting for some warmer days to investigate clutch engagement. Have seen some
posts here about speeds , belt dust and different springs (pink/blue / pink).
The seller commented that is has come to the right home with all of those "elders"
parked with it. My wife had me take a pic of the quadtrac leaving the property
as it was time for some else to look after it and I needed the room.
I had a desire for quadtrac since the 70's , got it 2011.
I had a desire for a VK540 and got the model about 5 years before sled.
I had desire for 40 Anniversary Apex and bought the toy and the jacket in 2008.
Glad to have 2013 in 2026.
I don't expect to live long enough to get the real John Deere 9400T to go
with the model sitting above my computer ..LOL

Congrats on the Apex! Best color combo in my opinion. Barn of Parts Soft Start spring will get your engagement down and it doesn't affect the rest of the RPM range. I added it to my 2013, 2 years ago and it makes loading and reversing much more tame.

Careful Ron, Travis also has a 40th Anniversary Apex for sale as well...

it is a learning curve on getting them moving without spinning the track on stock clutching. got stuck 3 times on my 1st ride on my 11 on the lake as the snow was not stuck to the ice at all.

Yamaha 90501-582J1 spring will lower engagement to 2800-3000 works awesome, all 4 of my Apex's have this spring installed.

Have not gotten a diff spring yet . Busy with appointments , Did go for a run
this afternoon and came to downed tree . Now I recall someone saying you need
to fasten up the snow flap to back up ..Finally got turned around and expect a few more
scuffs then before from running over some trees. Also since it doesn't go slower yet than
18km , took a side dive into a small spruce . Those panels are really strong LOL..
Anyway , have done a small search as I noticed my high beam indicator was on
and still have tail/ brake but no headlights. Noticed people talking about
scuffed wires, frozen relays , and dead relays ... Another days work.
Goes like scoot breaking trail ! Really had to hang on tighter when following same
pathway today . It came with saddle bags and I need to fasten them on so I can carry a
block and tackle with me for my next 180 deg turn on single path or to pull away from
a tree... as normally out in 600 acre by myself.
I guess you drill a discreet hole in flap to fasten the strap?
Ron

So after getting it into my garage w/o wrecking the floor . I removed the lighting
relay in pieces . Opps. Discovered the blue was live while running , jumped a wire
to dark green and still no head lights. Got a new relay before looking any further
and still no head lights , Pulled the headlight unit and found the ground wire partially
melted into cluster / bridge plug and the end cap melted off. Had seen were people
had joined them and soldered the ends. I cleaned up bridge clip and bared the wires
leading to the device and soldered them as well and taped.
My soldering is about the same quality as stick welding a muffler at 95 amps, POOR.
I have inherited about 6 irons and 4 soldering guns but should take a lesson.
Figuring I had solved the problem, I installed every panel and cover and turned the
key and it was dead ! Nothing ! Made sure I had not unplugged the key switch
and then found I must have leaned on the kill switch. Presto , it runs with lights .
I knew from manual that it would stop the engine , never considered everything.
Waiting for my soft start spring to come by mail. Hope to try it before snow leaves.
Thanks for all the info posted in this site.
Ron
