So my new to me 05 venture with 3k miles has the infamous clutch rattle, but it seems pretty bad at all speeds and it never goes away. How much should I hear? What would a clutch with bad rollers etc sound like and will it granade? Thanks!

You shouldn't hear it at all when above idle. Somethings not right.

After the first 400 miles, the dealer corrected the clutch rattle and the TORS issue free. Yamaha was aware of both issues I believe. There may even be a service bulletin out there. I'll see if I can some more info.

Cool... I had a vector so I know the rattle, but this seems extreme. I guess I should pull it and have it inspected.

My 2008 rattles like crazy even at lower trail speeds. It has done this since new. I can hear the clutch rattle pretty clearly when riding around 30mph. I know Yamaha offered a shim kit for the 2005's but I think since then they have just left it alone and have told consumers the rattle is normal, as I haven't heard anything about a fix since 2005. The rattle doesn't hurt anything, it is just annoying at times. Most have said it is due to the uneven firing order of the 3 cylinder. It goes away completely at higher rpm's. I pull my clutch at least once a year and clean / inspect and mine is still in great condition after 6000 miles and my weights look good too. So far this clutch seems to be very durable.
