I just purchased a 121x14x1.5" freeride track for my 07 phazer fx. i have never changed a track on a snowmobile before and i dont really want to bring it to the dealer to change it. If anybody would like to tell me the steps on how to change a track, it would be greatly appreciated.

well i havent done it on my phazer yet but i have done a few otheres. i have the same track on my phazer and its amazing but i had the dealer put that on. first u need to tank the entire suspension out which is pretty easy it should only b only like four bolts. then the chaincase needs to come apart and pull the drive shaft out, swap tracks and put everything back together

The suspension is easy to take off, 4 bolts. Unhook the torsion spring to make it easier.
You will also need to take the driveshaft off - I haven't done this on the phazer, but my understanding is that it is not difficult, but it just takes a while to do.
While in there, you should grease or possibly change the drive bearings, and clean out the crankcase. Refill with a good synthetic gear oil. Also check the wear on the drivers. If they are worn you could flip them backwards to get more life out of them
I think the only special tool you might need is a track tension tool, or you could eyeball it, or get a fish scale from walmart.

The track installation is not too difficult. You remove the skid like you would on any sled. The rear mount is a bit different than some of your older suspensions but easy enough to handle. The removal of the driveshaft is suprisingly easy. Drain the oil from your chaincase and remove the chain and gears. There is a housing assembly on the opposite side that you remove and the entire drive shaft will just pull out. Swap tracks and put everything back together. I'd give yourself 2-3 hours your first time if you have a hand. After that it's about 1.5 hr job. Let me know if you need help.
