How do you get the hyfax removal started???

Yes I know you have to remove the bolts and once I get the hyfax started, I know I can use reverse to remove them, but I am having a problem getting them started off.

Put a flat heat screw driver thorugh a window and tap it with a hammer.

Silicone spray on the track window you want it to come out of and a big big flat screw driver and mallet, pound the screw driver between the hyfax and rail about 3" and then .... pry and pry... until you get out about 1 to 2 " then do the reverse.

I just walk them off with a good controllable air chisel
until I can grab the ends with a pair of vise grips on
my slide hammer.

i just do mine when i pull the skid out to check over everything.

Yes, start the hyfax out through a track window a few inches, then put the sled in reverse and peel them out. One at a time though!

Check this video out on youtube. I learned this from another member a few months ago.

Agreed, same way I go.

The first time I didnt spray the rail down with PB blaster and that side was a bitch to get off. I sprayed down the other side and let it sit overnight, came off beautifuly.

I did replace the phillips head retaining screws with allen heads, the phillips head one was fairly soft metal and rounded out really easy.

Ok what is PBblaster??

I have had a bitch of a time with using a chisel and hammer to get it moving with no luck so far. The only thing that is moving is pealling the hyfax with the chisel. So far I have about 5 inches of hyfax pealled off the side.

I find it difficult to get the actual hyfax to fit through the window on my track so what I found to work easy is to pound the hyfax back about an inch then get in there with some sort of sheers and cut the hyfax right down the middle. This allows the end to bend easier and to wiggle its way through the window. Once it is out the window just squirt a little lubricant on it and use a vise grip to pull it out. Once it is past the window it is a breeze, so reverse was not needed when I did it.

Cut one window hole a little larger if you are not fully
clipped.

really, PB Blaster is a penetrating oil. If they wont slide, and are already peeling, use a utility and cut off one side, beat on it with a soft faced hammer, but it really isn't so tuff. I've done the reverse trick once, probably wont again. Start at the screw hole and using a punch or a flat screwdriver and hit it . . . hard with a BFH, it will move. do spray it first and let it soak for a few. Widen out 2 holes in the track to pull and drive them out through. Once they are out a few inches, grab ahold with vice grips and yank. I always grease mine before I install new ones.

OH, have you loosened the track tension yet ? "asked by Mr. Obvious"
