Hey all,

I had to change my Hyfax on my 2006 Apex RTX.

On the trail today, one of the screws on the Hyfax backed out.

It was weird, on a bumpy trail, it felt like the track was ratcheting. When I stopped to look, it was too late and the srew head was messed up by the track clips. The clips were fine.

Now that the screw head is messed up, I plan to use an easy out to get the screw out, but does anyone know what the thread and pitch is? I know it is metric??????

I will have to get the old bad screw out, clean the threads with a tap, and put a new screw in with Locktite!!

Thanks!!! This site rocks!

I liked the way my DOOS were on this subject..they had a bolt with nylock nut to hold hyfax in...you should try to make such a setup work...using a bolt and nylock nut...might be easier then tapping ect...just a thought....take a peak at a doo skid to see what i mean.

ya,my doo was like that, was easier job to perform.not sure on the locktite part though.changed mine today and that bolt was so tight,i had to pry hyfax thru hole, remove it and then try to take that bolt off with visegrips.there was no locktite on the bolt either cuz its my third set and i dont put any on that bolt, heck i didnt tight it that much the last time to be safe,ya right.i think the next time i'll put anti seize on the bugger

Well, I think I might simple drill out the hole and use a bolt with nut. Seems like it would be a beter deal.

I had the same thing happen to me this weekend. I also broke my W arm where the transfer rod attaches. I think that it allowed too much transfer and the front of the skid was pushing down to much on the track. It seems like one of the track guides grabbed the front of the slider and ripped it clean off.

I used an easy out...it was easy. Just get it out and get a new screw, it's not really worth re-engineering lol.
