I'm sure that the 850 will be a great sled, and I'm thankful there are still a few different brands of sleds to get the competition in everyone of us going. I haven't had a chance to ride my Sidewnder yet and I give thanks to all the guys posting as I'm getting to check my sled for all the things mentioned in the threads before it hits the snow.

They are until they blow a belt or sieze tight before 500 miles it's not looking good for the yellow crewNot if you talk to krm...he makes it sound as if the 850 is the greatest thing since sliced bread and the purchase of his Sidewinder was a mistake.

I hope there is no regrets getting this sled! Loose bolts, low coolant, blown belts and on and on. My Apex was flawless, it was my third one. Never changed a belt on any of them. Never stranded me and never missed a beat. I know reading this forum is like sitting in front of the emergency room, only broken people coming in.
Every sled has it's issues....it's great forums like TY that make things better. You can read all day about mods, clutching and accessories that other people have done to their sled...what works and what didn't.
Best part is with help from members here, if you have a problem or issue, the guys and gals here will point you in the right direction and maybe even help you fix it if you are stuck on the trail.
But, like you said.....forums like these are mostly complaining. If they had snow and no issues, they would be out riding instead of typing on a computer.

The ones that had issues were assembled at the factory with a pinched oil line .problem solved .Also , being less bias could be a better thing for many .And if you were to ck.you might find i'm the lease bias and most likely had and have more yamaha products than most talking baloney on here .Happy holidays to all.If anyone does get the privilege to get a rip on the g4 ,unless you live under a rock you might see what a nice sled it is that also can be ridden in deep snow and be able to stay on top of the snow not under it like the sidewinder does .Sure yours and mine are good groomed trail sleds ,and i guess that's what it's only purpose is .They are until they blow a belt or sieze tight before 500 miles it's not looking good for the yellow crew

I have said this time and time again...I have many many miles on 2 stroke Doo's..Where I do most of my riding is not conducive to a 800 2 stroke..long straight and fast trails..if I am spending big coin on a sled, it is not going to be on one I have to worry about going boom because I held the throttle mashed a bit too long...Sidewinder for me thank you!

Personally i think this sled will be the real deal.
As with anything mechanical, theres always gonna be issues and problems. The question is will you experience them.
I would be willing to bet anything wrong with this sled will be minor.
The procross chassis has had its fair share of testing and most weak points have been addressed.
Yamaha clutches have always been rock solid reliable, the improvments to the new clutches are only going to make them better.
The suspension is proven and in my opinion is the best suspension to ever be installed in a "yamaha"
The drivetrain has been slowly improved year after year and at this point should have no issue other than maybe an occasional electric reverse actuator
The motor, ohhhh the motor. This thing is gonna haul some serious azz
X2 250 miles on mine and is perfect.. No issues. This sled changes everything about a stock 4 stroke. Can it be improved? Seems so...a project for the summer.

I hear ya. Just put 350 miles on in the last couple days. Held it clamped for miles at 115mph. Would not doo that with my old 2 strokes.

I've owned 1 doo 1000, 4 doo 800's, 1 doo 700, and a 500...... but never logged that many miles on them because they always blew up.#truth. I only modded one of them and it just blew up faster than the rest.... i had the best luck with the rt 1000. 3400 trouble free miles... then boom!!!

The RT 1000 , was my first Doo , and it was fricken amazing !I've owned 1 doo 1000, 4 doo 800's, 1 doo 700, and a 500...... but never logged that many miles on them because they always blew up.#truth. I only modded one of them and it just blew up faster than the rest.... i had the best luck with the rt 1000. 3400 trouble free miles... then boom!!!
But I sold it instead of my Apex GT , because I was afraid it was going to blow.
And it did , one month later , so sad.
If I had a chance to buy any sleds from the past . in new condition , I would definately get the RT , and the V MAX 4 , and ????
