Looking at ice ripper tracks looking for views on how they perform for mostly trail riding.

Good, for icy/extremely hardpack conditions only, otherwise, you will not notice a difference from the regular ripsaw.
Get regular push through studs for real performance.
If im not mistaken, didnt the studded sled do better than the ice ripper track sled in a stopping and accelerating contest?
It was between a Rev, A Rs venture, and something else...

Here is my take. I do not race, the hookup is not as good a studs. I would never run a track without some sort of studs. I have been very happy with my Ice Ripper so far, 800 miles. I think it is a happy medium. Don't let anyone ever tell you they perform as good as studs. One thing to keep in mind, they are much better than going without, but you have to keep your mind focused in every turn because the track will slid from time to time where as when I studded, I never had to worry about that. I now have to concentrate more and thats a good thing. I am very happy with this design. I would like to see longer studs with this setup in the future and then I think it will be perfect. This should be the minimum standard on any sled.
Thanks
Thanks Boston RX1 that was some good feed back. I wonder if they put longer studs in those it might start ripping some stuff up in the tunnel you would problely have to put larger tunnel protectors in.Its a great idea the worry of throwing a stud might reduced with the same performence.

great track.... i hope they come out with the ice ripper in the 1.5 for my new attak.... hmmm that would be nice.....

Ran an Ice Ripper all this year on my 04 RX-1. Love it! Not as much traction as 256 picks. But it is a lot better than w/o anything. Kinda bites like my AC with 96 picks. And....
~ 3k miles and the track looks like new with all 256 studs in there!!! Bet there is only a handfull of guys out there with Pics that can say they got all the ones they started with, and the track still looks like new! (This will get them talkin')

3700 miles on mine and it is mint. Only complaint is 1/3 clipped. Mine is fully clipped now and I am liking it much better.

3000 miles on my attak, like the track but went through two sets of clips, and 3 sets of wheels (18 total) 4 sets of hyfax. for actual ice riding on the lake i would recamend studs instead. for trail riding it was fine. The track paddles appear to have worn extremely well and look almost brand new. if we kept the sleds for next year we would have run 96 studs down the middle in addition to the ice ripper. As for next year we will probably go back to a fully studded track and leave the ice ripper behind.
