Hey Dark one, you rode Randy's. How was the lag on that? I don't find mine too bad, it was alittle rich though, got the new program in now, send snow, LOL I guess the reat mount is the only one that doesn't add weight where you don't want it.
Does the rear mount have more issues besides lag?
Have you guys compared a rear mount Apex and a frount mount apex using same boost and "clutching"?
Have a buddy that has a front mount RX1.
It's melting his new diamond s Mesh hood.
He tells me he hears an air leak (could it be crack header).
Hmm there is also turbo lag to.
All front mounts, side mounts and SC have issues.
1. 20+ lbs to the front end. (frt m, side m, SC-II)
2. melting mesh hoods. ( frt m)
3. hot air intake. causes the engine to stumble (after descending from a climb) (frt m,side m)
4. fabricated headers vs stock Titanium headers. (frt m, side m)
5. including turbo Lag.(except SC)
Friend of mine rode with a side mount Apex.
They ended up using the same weight in the clutch they used to aliviate lag in the RX1. Hummmm
He also said that total exaust length to turbo was only about 6in. shorter than a rear mount.

After riding my Mc-xpress I will keep it...................... Up grade to 310 hp In no time at all. Try to do that with a stock Injected apex. The injectors a are maxed at 230-240 hp... 100% duty cycle is not a good thing.....................

Chubby , did you get yours clutched ok ? .........Mine came alive when I got my clutching figured out .......It has a lot more power when it's not hitting the rev limiter ,LOL

front mount turbo should have air intake where mine is you can see it just behind my gauge pod.as for melting hood after ripping around for awhile i let idle for about 1 minute to help the turbo cool down & take your hood off as soon as you stop for a break.its a bit of a hassle but stops things from melting

Not to argue about which is the best set up. They all rock as far as I'm concerned. You need to-re do you problem list though.
The SC unit (blower itself) on my RX-1 is cool enough to touch bare handed after a hard pull. The intercooler is barely warm to the touch so, I have no problems with decents after a climb. I am using no fabricated header. No problems with hood melting or battery for that matter since it sits right next to the blower unit. I also don't have to run a BOV to take care of throttle chop.
Cons are the extra weight up front but I'll re adjust the rear shock for more transfer. The pulley swapping to adjust boost for fuel conditions. Once I get the carbs dialed in I will be going to high boost permanantly. The fact that you can hear the blower unit at idle. Even if I had stock exhaust I don't think I'm very "Stealthy".
It's just too bad the fuelie guys have to wait so long for one part on the APEX kits.

I usually only run at 10-12lbs for 240-250hp.............+ my kit cost me over $3,000CND less then the mcx would have.I didn't add any weight to the front cause I went to a light weight hood without lights and all those steal brackets etc. Then I'm gonna knock off probably 30lbs of rear exhaust to boot.
That doesn't sound right. You got a turbo kit with head shim to run 12lbs on pump for under 4k Cad ? If that's the price then it's a good deal.

Retail on the mcx was $7000 + tax wasnt it? For a total of $7980 before installation. We get tax'd to death up here!

There's no tax on the side mounts? I wasn't thinking about the thousand in tax you guys pay. We pay 7%(7% is still too much) in AB so retail was $7484.65 at full pop. Tax aside, I was told $4995 for the bare kit, no head shim, plus a couple hundred shipping from US. That made a difference of about $1700 before tax(and it wasn't available at the time, which was a big factor)

I know mcx kit will be a tough one to beat, they have set a benchmark.
