I now have gone through 7 20amp ignition fuses. It seems like something is getting wet that shouldn't. After the first round of fuses, the dealer called yamaha, they said ECM is likely getting wet. Bunch of grease, plastic bag, and a hundred miles or so, ignition fuse blown again. The sled dried out overnight, new fuse, 30 miles blows again. Anyone?

do you have a heated visor...my wifes attack did the same ....never knew how far it would go....went out with my son at night..and when he would ride in front of me...i saw sparks....they were coming from his conection on the visor,,this would short it out,..change the connection and it never happened again.hope its that simple..good luck

No heated visor, no 12v oultet, no electrical mods at all.

well then try and see if there is any rust in the ignition switch...one friend i have had that mess up..the snow from boondocking would melt there and then go into where the key was...i now take mine out when stored in trailer...good luck..

Thanks, but no rust in the switch. Good idea though, that is probably the last place I would have checked. I feel like replacing the 20amp with a 30amp, would probably find the culprit pretty quick, although yamaha may not like that.

Had a the exact same problem but it was my 15 amp fuel pump fuse that would pop. It would last just long enough to get the farthest from the truck and then start popping. Went through a bunch of fuses and was towed back twice. Turned out the main wiring harness was rubbing on the block and wore through the wire cover. If I hit a jump or a bump, the wire harness would shift and arc out. Mine was the main wiring harness that runs down the left side behind the clutchs and down to the relays. It wasn't straped to the Aluminim bulk heads. I would start checking all the wiring.

Mine also seems to run fine until I am the greatest possible distance from the truck, and only on the coldest days.
