I have been all over the board in the last few weeks with a new sled purchase to replace my 09 Nytro XTX.

I really had my heart set on the S-TX-DX because I have ridden two Viper XTX's and love the look of the longer track, although for my riding the long track is probably not necessary. I want to buy a 5+ yr keeper sled for me with everything on it ready to go when I pick it up and be happy with it out of the box. I'm looking at the DX because I don't want to constantly mess with shocks, like the taller windshield, and heated seat is a nice touch.

Anyhow, on a whim I almost bought a used 600mi 2014 AC 9000 RR today at a different dealership than I have been talking to as the sled was eat off of clean and had every accessory possible...plus looked mean as heck and the thought of having a turbo sled at a price in my wheelhouse was enticing for sure....but no warranty and having to pay all cash for a used 12k sled with tax kinda scared me off.

After walking away and rethinking wants vs needs I am now thinking the L-TX-DX would offer everything I want in a sled and puts me at the $$ amount that I was set on staying under with extended warranty, studs, and two bags.

My question is: Other than 4" more track, a bit deeper lug, and the tunnel rack....Is there something I am missing for the extra $500 other than the material items? Does the 141" S model handle better or worse than the L?...I'm mainly a 1000-1500mi per year MI trail rider and some field/ditch riding in Ohio when we have snow.

If going 141" go se for the air shocks. They work well in that chassis. Suspension is very adjustable to do whatever you want. If you want a coupled suspension go std or DX 129" . The 137 does nothing better than a 129" and you still have to deal with the extra same length tunnel of 141". The 129" transfers better than 137" almost as well as 141" if you want it to. It also just feels more nimble. A lot of this depends on your size and riding style. I am a small guy 145 lbs and love to jump and hit the moguls fast. Is there any way you could get to a group ride? I think you need to ride them all to make a really informed decision.

Well I pulled the trigger and the dealer is setting one of the two by noon on Monday....$500 less if I go with the LTX.

Are there any gearing differences between the two in order to handle the deeper lug and longer track on the S model?

I'm seriously considering the 137" LTX because I'm not sure I care for the look of the bag once it is on the rack, it looks like luggage and not part of the sled...seems silly I know but I'm gonna have to look at this sled for a few years at least. With the LTX I plan on ditching the stock hard bag for a expandable tunnel bag.

Had last years LTX, got rid of it and got this years S-TX-DX and couldn't be happier. No comparison between rides and DX is easier to change if one wants. If you don't like rack on rear of DX four bolts and its gone, still have bag which fits under rack for "stuff", best of both worlds. DX has 3' track pitch so probably same amount of lugs on ground as 137 as it seems to handle just as well, I like a little longer track if possible as they ride better.
