Bill,
1) Very similar to the RX-1 weights except with a little more material in the tip and obviously the third tuning hole added. Otherwise the same profile between the two weights. Total it weighs 81 grams.
2) It out accelerates and makes more HP to the ground than the SRX.

Mach Z killer from a Stock Apex???????????Srxspec said:Going off of memory here, I know the stock, stage 1, and stage 3 numbers are correct, don't remember the exact number on stage 2. There was a solid 1.5-2 hp gain in between each stage. Hoping to be in the 87-88 hp (Mach Z killer) range after putting on some more "goodies" that we've been testing!
Stock: 80.11
Stage 1: 82.5
Stage 2: 84.xx
Stage 3: 85.5

Let me ask this. How many good running Mach's were around last winter? I know of a few from guys who knew how to clutch and tune them properly. I also saw a RX-1 making the same HP that the Apex is this year beat them. It'll be an interesting winter!

Dan what are you waiting for you only ride 156 miles a year. Your not a racer either!!! You should by a 2 up!!!

i will also said that it will be an interesting vinter. i have seen this combat in person. and that day with that conditions the apex gt was faster in acceleration for about 200-300 meters. but the mack z had 165 kmt on the gps and the apex had 160 kmt. this was an totally stock apex. and the owner of the z said that he had some modifications done so he was sure it was better than stock. the conditions was loose and it was warm wethear + 5 degrees. i will not be sad if an z is faster than me because it has abot 15 hp more in the engine but i will be pretty happy if the resault above is the general testing resault this winter. keep up the good work srxspec and let us now. i will be ordering a new kit if you have yamaha oem bushings in the weights.

Billy Howards for one. Bill Cudneys for two. The Mach Z last year definetely had some major software issues, but it seems to be a pretty good motor, but if they get them all figured out for the 06's, then look out, the Mach Z and that 170hp will be very hard to beat.Srxspec said:Let me ask this. yes fore sure it will be hard to beat. spesially if it comes with the 32 mm ripsaw track. but i think so far the apex semms like a really fast sled, and remember it is an four stroke. dont forget that. and it shuld really not be compered to 2 stroker with 165-170 horsepower. but with yamaha it is possible. look at the others fourstrokes out there, if it wasnt for yamaha the coustomers would like to think it should be like that.

Billy Howard, Chuck Hamrah, Bill Cudney all had them figured out. Billy Howard is a very good friend and very smart when it comes to tuning. It'll be interesting to see if they keep the motor at the 165-170 it was last year or if they detune it to try to keep them together?
If the apex has 150hp at the crank and the Mach has 170 at the crack but the Apex is making 95 at the track and the Mach is making 90 as long as the apex hooks the 95 to the ground it will win every time. Lets say the mach makes more at the track but the apex comes out better the apex could still win
The guy with the most efficient clutching and traction will win ever time!!!

If you look at last years shoot-out results and compare the RX-1 to the Mach Z in a quarter mile, the et's were very close. Now if the claimed 5 1/2 lengths and 5 mile an hour increase in a quarter mile is accurate, plus given some break-in time, the results in a quarter mile could get very interesting. A half-mile you have to expect the extra horsepower the Mach Z has will give it an advantage. At this time of year it is something to ponder at least.
