Hi everyone, new member here just have a quick question.
i just picked up a 05 rx1, runs absolutly terrible at the moment, hard starting, when it does the choke has to be on through the whole warm up process.
after its warmed up(warm uplight goes out) it backfires alot and if you blip the throttle it backfires with poor acceleration. now from reading up its most likely i gotta clean the carbs and clean them again for good measure.lol
im quite a ways from anyone that has a manometer and i know the owner played with the sync screws so i was wondering if it was possible to some how bench sync them roughly and if i can what are the procedures, also can it hurt the engine if its not synced right?
thnx, darryl

measure the space under the throttle plate on all 4 carbs and average it out, and set all 4 at that opening. use a feeler guage. it sounds like your pilots are plugged, and no it wont hurt the engine if the carbs are not synced, it just runs rough.

X2 on the pilots....sync just makes everything crisper. Soak the pilots, mains, air jets and bowls in Yamaha Penetrating fluid...they'll come out like new.

X3 its your pilot jets clean them throughly and set your air screws to two turns out from a light seat. If you have old gas get new gas in there and run it with some seafoam added as well.

A good carb sync tool will come in handy. And yes the sled will run smooth as silk after a carb sync.
